    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

Prime side of all ignition coils would read about 0,5-3 Ohm. Secondary side is more different. Coils for CDI ignition would read about 200-800 Ohm depending on brand and system, magneto coils would read about 5-8KOhm and battery ignition 9-15KOhm.

    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

I am not sure about built in resistors as they I have worked with has the resistor outside. Do not use coils with resistors, it is for cold start a car. OB do not need this. If the coils is for 12V... fine, you can use it. If there is a crack in the coil, well try to insulate it with some kind...

1972 Chrysler 85, Tolletson carburetor tuning

Sounds really odd it would not start and idle timed at 30 dgr BTDC! Have you done the timing at top cylinder and at WOT? Check that the distributor is adjusted right to the flywheel. Set the throttle at idle (lowest setting) and pull off the throttle rod from the throttle cam. Check with a screw...

    (Chrysler 25 HP 1975) Outboard Motor 257HA

ErSa has one solution, coils from motorbikes. It has to be 12V coils for battery ignition systems. Another solution is to use regular auto style coils but not with ballast resistor. Auto style coils can be a bit tricky to assemble cause they are larger then the OEM and coils for bikes...

    ‘76 90hp Head cover sealing…

Damage to the power head is due to pre ignition or carb feeding that cylinder is clogged. I think it is pre ignition. Clean all carbs and check the timing.

1972 Chrysler 85, Tolletson carburetor tuning

These engines are really easy to time. As it has battery feed ignition system with points (Magna Power CD system or regular auto style ignition with condenser and points). To find 28 and 30 dgr BTDC you can count how many tooth you have on the flywheel. Divide it with 360 and multiply with 28...

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

Maybe you are right in your calculation but that is for a whole rebuild of the engine. If only one cylinder is bad just rebuild that one with rebore, new piston with rings and with new gaskets that you can not reuse. Cleaning the carbs and new gaskets for the them. You do not need to put in new...

1988 Force 125 timing marks explanation?

If you have a timing light that you can pre advance the timing and you set it to 28 dgr, you should see the zero mark if it is spot on. If you have to adjust you shall adjust it so it shows the zero mark. If you do not pre advance, it should show the 28 dgr mark.

1988 Force 125 timing marks explanation?

The single one far to the right of the three is 0 dgr (TDC). The one in the middle of the three is 30 dgr BTDC, the one to the left 32 dgr and the one to the right 28 dgr. The factory setting is 30 dgr TDC but with worse fuel today with more ethanol I would suggest to retard it and set the...

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

I would not put 5400 dollar in a used 30 years old engine. If they want to charge your 5400 dollar for a rebuild.....no, no, no. They are cheating you. Rebuilding one hole with a new piston, rings and rebore is about 250 dollar then the cost in time to disassemble and reassemble the engine. The...

    primer bulb not doing anything...

That is a Force engine, actually a Chrysler low profile engine. They were also sold as Gamefisher during the Force brand period. The same as Chrysler were sold as Wards and Sears in the late 60:es and early 70:es.

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

Well I looked closer to your pics and if you compare the top of the damaged piston with another piston you can see the top cam baffle is affected and the whole piston top too. This often depend on pre detonation. I would suggest you to clean the carbs and check the timing advance at WOT. From...

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

Cylinder walls scored then that is the issue. 120Hp 4 cylinder has 2 carbs, one carb feeding 2 cylinders. Check the carbs if they are clogged. Lean running will end up with scored cylinder. If you can catche the score with your nails you need to rebore, if not you can go for new rings and honing...

    Chrysler 30hp impeller

Yes, as topgun3690 says. Those are the right part numbers. Check with Franz Buddenburg at Franz Marine. He will give you the right part number and you can order it from him if he has it.

    Cylinder head Chrysler 75 Hp

ErSa, yes read that thread it will give you some information and as jimmbo says better cooling as the water will flow over and around the spark plugs. But check what size of the head bolts it has. Some of the old heads had lager bolts if you choose the older typ of head.

Chrysler 45 hp Gear Shift Linkage

The shift linkage should be adjusted so you have equal travel of the rod at forward and reverse compared to neutral, that is from the factory workshop manual. But sometimes when the linkage is worn and have some slack and the dog is worn you maybe have to adjust the linkage so you have a bit...

    Force 85 Throttle Control Replacement

From my experience you can replace the remote control cables with Teleflex, Mores or other brands standard cables with 10-32 ends. The connectors at the engine will fit from the old cables and also the connectors at the remote control. Teleflex, Morse etc cables has 10-32 ends at both ends...

1989 Force Gamefisher shift linkage adjustment

Nice you got it up and running. I think the issue was the cam dent not in position and the lower shift shaft not adjusted properly. The distinct snap when shifting into gear is just right and you know the shift pin is right in the shift cam.

puzzled 88 85 hp has strong spark on number 2 cylinder and super weak spark on 1,3

Nice you got it running. Your terminology of the ignition parts confused me. It my have been a little hard to understand. Each CDI box controls two cylinders, it has two output channels. A two cylinder engine need one CDI box, a three cylinder engine need two CDI boxes but only use one output...
