    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Las I have made the same journey with my 1977 65Hp in this summer. The gear started to jump out of gear at almost WOT and WOT and I did not countinued to run it. I disassembled it and found the edges at the forward gear rounded. The clutch dog edges was also a bit rounded so I flipped it 180...

    Lower bearing carrier removal

That screw holds the shift lever to the shift pin which is connected to the clutch dog and has to be removed if you want to pull out the prop shaft from the gear case housing.

    1993 Force 90hp

With the LU off the engine you can shift it F-N-R? But when the shift rod upper connected you do not get forward? Is that right? Measure the total stroke of the shift rod from forward to reverse with LU off and then check the stroke with the LU mounted on the midleg.

    1993 Force 90hp

Can you shift it with the remote cables unhooked? Shift by hand at engine with the shift lever. You have to rotate the propeller when shifting by hand otherwise you may damage the shift rod/linkage.

timing issues on 120hp force outboard

Do not set your timing gun to 32 dgr. Just leave it at zero and when you crank the engine with the starter. Aim the timing gun at the flywheel/timing plate and the 28 drg mark should line up with the zero mark at timing plate (throttle at WOT). If not, adjust the timing linkage with the screw...

    Chrysler 7.5 no spark

The ignition system contains a CDI box, a stator, a trigger ring and two ignition coils. First check all groundings for the ignition system. Outboardignitiondotcom may have troubleshoot chart for your engine. As you do not have spark at all, I would suspect the stator or the CDI box. The stator...

    Force Vs Johnson

As I am a Chrysler/Force guy and even Mercury and I like them, my answer is the Force. The engineering of both I would say they are equal. Maybe the Force is a bit older but then more old school and easy to work with. The Force would be a bit harder on fuel. My experience from the 70/75Hp OMC is...

Chrysler 70 hp magnapower where can I buy the remote wireing

Ebay will be a good source. Every harness for Chrysler/Force engines 35Hp and up will fit. Newer harness for Force engines with a plug will also fit but you have to cut the plug.

    Stalling mystery

Have you checked if it is a electrical or fuel issue? Do you loose spark at actual RPMs or do you have spark at both plugs. Connect a timing light at the plug wires and check if you loose spark, if not I suggest you to clean the carb well as it would be a fuel issue.

    Stalling mystery

Yes your hoses for the draining of the unburned fuel are right. Earlier Chrysler 35-55Hp had the two hoses from crank case manifold to a T-coupling and down in to a barb fitting down the leg. Later had a hose from top cylinder crank case down to bottom cylinder crank case.

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

Initial setting: Timing advance 28 dgr BTDC at WOT at cranking speed. Air fuel mixture screws at carbs 1-1 1/4 turn out from seated. Throttle pick up point should be adjusted so the cam roller intersects the throttle cam at the mark at the cam. The roller is eccentric and you adjust it by...

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

Pics of the timing tower, roller to the cam at carb, throttle butterflies at idle etc. Something must be set wrong, how is the timing set? If throttle butterflies are closed at idle there must be something wrong with the timing advance. Is the throttle/timing linkage bending? Pics maybe will...

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

The idle speed should be 7-800 RPM i water and gear, 1100-1200 RPM at muffs. If the idle speed is correct but it still stop when put in gear you maybe have the air fuel mixture screws at the carbs set to lean. Start setting should be 1-1 1/4 turn out from seated and adjust in 1/8 turns each...

Force 85 won't shift into forward but goes in reverse help!

Nice to hear that you got it to work with the suggestion to adjust the lower shift rod. BTW All of us that usually gives suggestions at this forum to solve issues really appreciate when the thread starter give feed back how the suggestion expired Thanks Aklidata.

    1997 50 hp Force

It should idle about 700 RPM in water in gear. If you run it on muffs it should idle about 1100 RPM. But set the idle in water in gear. It is the best way to adjust it right.

Force 85 won't shift into forward but goes in reverse help!

The adjustment of the lower shift rod depends on which typ of LU you have. My OEM service manual OB4642 calls for four turns out from bottom for the two piece drive shaft typ and nothing more then bottom for the one piece drive shaft typ. I would suggest you to check how yours is adjusted and...
