2004 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer sudden leak

If you can get your phone positioned near where you see water coming in, you could take some pics and video to share for further input. Sources of a leak include: Bellows (drive shaft & shift cable) (as mentioned) Transom deterioration Transom assembly deterioration Y-pipe gasket deterioration

2020 Mustang GT getting check engine light,P0300 and P2006 codes

My CEL came on . . . I stopped the car, opened the hood, checked the engine (it was there). . . closed the hood, got back in the car and kept going. :ROFLMAO: Although . . .I am wondering if a stuck intake runner control causes random cylinder misfires . . .

Boat had been stored for 19 years

The trailer is worth what you paid, so you are even at this point. Engine: I would get some PB blaster (or similar) into the cylinders (take spark plugs out) I would also remove the distributor and use a drill w/ an oil pump attachment to get some oil up into the rotating assembly. Then maybe...

Plane lands on Cape Cod beach . . .

That's the rock that I use as my bearing point when coming close to the beach for anchoring.

Plane lands on Cape Cod beach . . .

This just happened today. It is where we do the sandbar thing on nice calm days . . . https://www.wcvb.com/article/plane-emergency-landing-cape-cod-beach-falmouth/65864141 apparently the plane ran out of gas and made an emergency landing. Good thing it was low tide, as the area is usually in...

How would a compromised bellows sink the boat?

Yea, I did not always put those o-rings on the drive shaft, figuring that they won't really do much if the bellows gets compromised. An equal concern is the 'Y' pipe gasket, which can cause an even bigger leak. I don't worry much about that stuff, other than the routine inspections. If the...

    I Got Me a Mercury !!!

The '72 Mercury has now taken over the dinghy operations. The engine is running well. . . I brought the Evinrude back to the house and did a few fixes . . . > New fuel connector (the old one was missing the check valve) > Re-hab of the idle adjustment screw > I did not have an anode handy when...

    I should add a 2nd battery...

Generally 2 ways of adding an additional battery to a single battery set-up: 1) Directly connected in parallel 2) Selectable via A/B/Both switch (aka Perko switch) Option #2 is preferred as you can run stuff on 1 battery and keep the other in reserve. While underway, you can be charging...

Sqeeking sound from belt after impeller inspection

There should be a number on the belt (somewhere), it is basically the length in inches or may be cm. Alternatively, you can bring the belt to the auto parts store and they can get you a match.

Sqeeking sound from belt after impeller inspection

See my answers above . . . I am wondering if when you tightened the bolts, it is causing the impeller to bind. If you did not have water going to the raw water pump, then it is probably the impeller itself squealing inside the pump (very bad).

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Reminds me of when the Evinrude E-tec engines were fire hazards . . . I guess now it will be the e-boats burning up.

Drilling vent holes in a prop

Mercury already has vented propellers and various sized hole 'plugs' to fine tune performance. Might be a better approach vs. the guess-work of a drill press.

    Is A I a totally unreliable function ?

When there is a lack of "NI" (Natural Intelligence), the world must turn to AI (Artificial Intelligence). :ROFLMAO: Of course AI is not new, it is just much more evolved. I recall working with basic AI systems for decision making back in the 1990's . . . back then it was essentially...

Bravo 3 Prop selection - other options?

Mercury has a prop selector tool that can get you in the ballpark . . . maybe within a pitch or 2 . . . https://www.mercurymarine.com/us/en/propellers/mercury-propeller-selector

Found some rocks with my prop...

What worked in the past has a good probability of working in the future. I'd get the same prop and call it good.

Bravo 3 Prop selection - other options?

What makes you think that the current prop set is not right for your boat? What is on your boat now and what is your maximum RPM and speed? Playing prop sets on a B3 gets expensive.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI hydro locked

Could be intake manifold or cylinder heads, if the exhaust side checks out OK. I know the 7.4's had some issues with rust-through around the valve guides, not sure about the 5.0 engines. Your profile says that you are from Plymouth, MA . . . I'm assuming it is salt water boating. If the...
