    The price of a new factory VRO is scary.-----A convention pump is an easy decision for me.----Instead of near $1000 ca for a new VRO pump , I repair the old style pump with a new $10 diaphragm.

    Where is " up here " ?-----I have used a milling machine with boring head to do these motors.-----Friend ( now deceased ) let me use his equipment.----Cost me $25 / hole.----Carefully honed cylinders at home myself.----Done many of them.

    Well----Perhaps the only shop in your area.----But with the right tools about $100 / cylinder does the trick.

    If you do not know how old the impeller is you must install a new one.-----And look at the 2 thermostats and poppit valves.

    Good used outboards with warranty are few and far between.-----Many 2 strokes are ruined by folks who do not know how they work.-----Folks invent new ways to destroy them on a regular basis.-----Learn to rebuild it properly and you will have affordable boating for a long time.

    These are excellent motors..-----Rebuild it with 3 new pistons in there.-----But you must determine the cause of the damage.----Run it for another 20 years.

    I think you put a threaded rod in there.----And a slide hammer.----Perhaps your local friendly shop will pull it in minutes.

    Post ohm reading of brown wires from stator.----Post ohm reading on one brown to ground.----Post ohm reading of sensor coil.

    Not easy to find pre 1980's car in the " rust belt " areas.----just like outboards the older stuff is easier to maintain in your backyard.

    I learned to drive long ago.---No sensors in the car because driver had the common sense back then.------I hate the " high tech " features that are big $$$ to repair.----If you hit a moose or deer it can mean a " write off " of the vehicle.
