    Tracker Guide V14~good?

On the "I don't want to do the work" at 82 I am coming up with the same conclusion on a lot of things. But I have to have something to occupy my time so I am selective on what I choose to invest my time and withering body abilities.

    trim gauge

Does it do it with the boat on the trailer? I think the sending unit is a mercury (element of nature) bubble moving around in a tube of some sort. I don't know how the sender translates this into a voltage signal. Guessing I would say this is pretty bullet proof. Meter movements can fail as...

    Getting new prop, couple questions

Agree and that's why they are sitting on the shelf, not mounted on the engine. I had purchased a 20 year old boat and was trying to understand where I was with engine condition and boat performance. Since the props were cheap was no biggie to experiment.

    Can’t Figure out Prop ….

Well I don't know what is on there but I agree with his thinking on dropping pitch when adding the 4th blade.

    Getting new prop, couple questions

Those dual 4 blade (aluminum black) props were probably Turning Point brand Hustlers and I have a couple of them and some of their 3 blade aluminum props. The brand advertises to put SS high performance functions in a rigid aluminum prop saving the buyer some money over SS. 3 blades have the...

    16ft Glasspar w/65hp 2 stroke

Per some Merc data I stumbled across years ago, the fewer the blades the more efficient the prop as it has more "clear water" hitting the blades. However, blade area is what contacts the water and if you need a lot of whoopie you need a lot of blade area. Merc ran 2 blade props OEM back in the...

What color should my gear oil looks like

I use the premium so maybe the general purpose is petroleum looking.

What color should my gear oil looks like

Mercury is easier to diagnose as it is blue-black in color and water shows up easily.

    Prop Damage

Side note: I had a 125 Johnson with an aluminum prop and boated in a newly filled lake with many saplings in and above water as they grew naturally. Sunday we would go out for fun and Monday at lunch break the prop would go to the prop shop to get a bent blade fixed. Went to the new OMC SST...

    Too big to beach?

I see at least 2 and probably a 3rd unseen outboards on this craft. If he can't work it off by putting the engines in reverse, tilted vertical if the water is deep enough otherwise as low as the bottom will allow, and moving the helm back and forth in a swinging action with as much throttle as...

98 Mercury 90 hp Throttle cable/throttle lever problem

Preload defined as push the engine throttle arm all the way back. Put the remote control in the N position. With the throttle cable center conductor connected to the engine's throttle arm and the barrel on the outer shield, turn the barrel so that it is about 1/4" (give or take) forward of the...

Sychonizing the Carbs on '96 Mariner 90hp OB

While you are diddling with that linkage, have a close look at the black, plastic do-dads that connect the throttle rods together. I have found them wallowed out and or cracked such that the link and sync setup can't be achieved. The rest of the link and sync setup is outlined in the service...

Mercury Spanner wrench for tilt and trim

I have a farm and lots of antique tractors and implements.....rust is in a lot of places. I use an Impact wrench on hard to get off/out nuts and bolts. A cheap version of that tool is your spanner wrench and a hammer to whack (impact) the stubborn fastener. Impact and penetrating oil get the...

    Unknown toggle switch

I had that too with a Mercury Commander 2000 control box...the one that mounts ON the bulkhead. My Crestliner has the 3000 model which mounts IN the bulkhead and the ignition switch mounts on the dash board. That switch does not have the detent function for choking.

    Unknown toggle switch

Toggle next to ignition to me means choke or fuel enrichment activation. I have a push button adjacent to mine on a Crestliner that activates the enrichment valve for extra fuel during first starting procedures in particular. Go to your device and check the wires color codes. One will go to...

    Tin boat prices

Since reading this post I Craiglist'd across the country and there are good deals out there. You just have to seek them out and go through the trouble to go the distance and make the deal.......good hunting.
