Is my outboard direct fuel injected?

Yes Sir. Grin Just an old fart here killing time, binging up mostly forgotten experiences of the past trying to stave off "cabin fever" since I am a farmer and currently house bound due to the weather. And remembering the axiom, "the first liar doesn't have a chance". Grin #2.

Is my outboard direct fuel injected?

Well in my neighborhood there were 3 or 4 us us running 4 cycle mowers and besides cutting our grass we would push our mowers around and look for work. We'd mow (only) a city lot, roughly 65x125' for $3. One of the guys cutting in our area, not part of my circle of buddies, had a 2 cycle and...

Is my outboard direct fuel injected?

Well whack me across the knuckles with a ruler. If there is any truth to this unsupported clip I was wrong. You can't patent something that already exists although you might patent the adaptation of the process, not the process per se. Can't find any thing on the www to back me up but as an...

1990 Sea Ray 160, Mercruiser 3.0 with Alpha one gen 1

2 things working against you here. 4 blades have more bite and need more to drive them. 17P vs 15P the same...more to drive it. 2X wrong direction.

Is my outboard direct fuel injected?

Back in that time line, before Mercury redesigned the 115 HP 6 cylinder engine (to name an engine I had....an '88 model) to a "Loop Charged" 4 cylinder, the 6 cylinder was referred to as "Direct Charged". This is a carbureted engine (as others said) not to be confused with direct mechanical...

1990 Sea Ray 160, Mercruiser 3.0 with Alpha one gen 1

I would also recommend the 15P having had a 3.0 and easily running out of engine when pulling water toys and having several people on board. Since you didn't mention top speed as a requirement it made it easy to choose between the 15 and 17. The 17 would do a half assed job on both counts...

Why is the engine tied in the up position? Spells trim and tilt problems to me. Agee on Racer's comments.

    Running outboard during freezing temps?

It was years later when I was an owner, that I learned of the reason for the 2 hoses and pump up primer on OMC tanks.

The main use for trollers in the Great Lakes and such is for trolling and slow speed is a must.

    hi, i have a 2004 140 hp merc.

If its a V6 you have thermostats at the top rear of each side water jacket cover.....2 each. The starboard side is probably stuck shut....it happens BTDT with a stuck stat, on an inline 3 cyl. 90 hp.

    Running outboard during freezing temps?

Like some OMC engines of the day I guess you start them in gear and Reverse gear was a 180* swivel of the engine. I saw them on other boats running really well for the apparent HP but never got close to one. What did one do for fuel.......tank part of the engine proper like early OMCs....and I...

    Running outboard during freezing temps?

Mentioning duck hunting, dad had a friend from Honey Grove, Arkansas who regularly hunted the White River bottoms. I recall in some of his stories where he said that he chipped the paint on the bow of his boat running through surface ice while duck hunting. His engine was a 7.5 HP Martin with...

    Running outboard during freezing temps?

Well sir I live in N. Texas and I have been out fishing when the guides on your rod would freeze due to the water picked up as the line was retrieved and the ambient temp. You just bang your rod on the side of the boat, set your Abu Garcia casting reel to fee spool and cast back out there...

    Weep hole??

Mid 90s its time for all the rubber based parts in the engine to be replaced plus fuel filter and inlet hose and saueeze bulb. I'm, assuming that's the fuel pump and you are probably right on that one.

    Motor vs. draft

Weigh the contents and the boat. Calculate the area of the boat to be in the water. Take a cubic foot of water at 7.5 gallons of water at 8.3 pounds per gallon and . The boat will displace the amount of water equal to its weight. Since the hull isn't perfectly rectangular and the answer...

    14 Foot Jon Boat Identification

My experience with boats over the years is that the boat in the pictures is an aluminum, semi-V skiff, not a flat bottomed, blunt bow, John (Jon) boat. Over the years, no telling how many boat companies made them and with them being of the same basic design, unless a serial number or decal is...

Mercury Trim Switch Blowing Fuse (unusual circumstance)

2 stroke engines of that HP (like mine) use a 20 amp fuse in the wiring harness. If you are running a 15 that extra 5 amperes could make a difference in high stress conditions...course one would think the design goal would be to size the fuse for 50% of the normal load. Increasing fuse size...

1972 evinrude 9.5 need long shaft or different trim?

"The rear boat's bottom must be impeccable clean before water testing or will produce an uneven water flow passing thru the lower leg, report your findings, good luck !!" You may have hit onto the problem. I don't see the engine sitting too low. Looks like its sitting just right putting...

"The other thing is anytime we went over just to look around the chop seemed to be unreal." You can blame the shallow water for that....can't build swells in shallow water.
