    Automatic bilge pump

From my Rule 25S instructions that I use as a backup to main pump. "Through advanced electronic technology, Rule Automatic Bilge Pumps eliminate the need for a separate switch to activate the pump. Once power is supplied, starting and stopping is completely automatic. The pump checks for water...

    4.3l Merc I/o grinding

Check the gimbal bearing and align the gimbal bearing. Check or replace the bellows. If those drives have impeller water pumps change it too.

    4.3l Merc I/o grinding

Your old lower will have debris in it which will contaminate the upper. You'll be fine running the 1.98 Might have to go up a size in props to keep it in the proper WOT range. For example from a 21 to 23.

    Automatic bilge pump

"QUESTION: Does the internal float in an automatic bilge pump require that the pump be vertical (top up) to work?" Depends on the pump. Sounds like yours works on water resistance but I'm just guessing. Often it's the twist in the hose that causes the pumps to not sit properly. Try loosening...

Do you have a depth sounder transducer installed on the transom? They can direct spray upwards.

    4.3 belt alignment issues

That looks better but still looks out of alignment. Did you use a straightedge?

    Mercruiser 140 water shutter

If you haven't removed the old one yet you don't have to drill it out. There might not be very much room. You can use a dremel or grinder to grind off the rivets on one of the 2 clips that hold the flapper in. That allows you to remove the old flapper. You can use the clip that's left there...

    4.3 belt alignment issues

If you put a straight edge on it you should be able to tell if it's parallel with the other pulleys. Can that pulley go in more?

    4.3 belt alignment issues

Maybe it's just the perspective in picture 173504 but it looks like the PS pump is at an angle compared to the other pulleys.

1973 Mercruiser Sterndrive hinge pin question

Sorry it's been about 15 years since I last removed those. Can you not use a small punch to knock those nails out from the back to the front? Also, once those nails are out I'm wondering if it's possible to punch the hinge pins inwards to remove them?

2018 115 Pro XS - OIL, the great debate, and what fuel?

They've changed it from what I was familiar with. It used to be the opposite. Not sure of their reasoning. Engine Oil Recommendations Mercury or Quicksilver NMMA FC‑W or NMMA FC‑W catalyst compatible certified SAE 10W‑30 4‑Stroke Marine Engine Oil is recommended for general, all‑temperature...

2018 115 Pro XS - OIL, the great debate, and what fuel?

My bad then. I thought the recommended was 25W-40 with the 10W-30 as an alternate. What's the serial number?

2018 115 Pro XS - OIL, the great debate, and what fuel?

The sticker on the motor suggests the 25W-40 FC-W is better for hotter temps so I'd go with that. Maybe split the difference and use Semi-Synthetic?

    Serial Number

So, it has a plate. Is the trailer registered/insured under that plate in it's current province? If so, on the registration/insurance form is there a serial number or VIN? If there is, you should be ok as long as your province doesn't visually inspect the trailer. Which provinces are involved?

    Another surge question

What you're calling part of the trailer frame with the stamp on it I believe is part of the actuator. Is that part bolted or welded to the frame?

    Thru-hull oil drain

I'm not sure why people are putting the guy down Around here all the inspection stations are staffed by summer students. I can't imagine them knowing as much as you experienced boaters. Good opportunity to help educate them.
