Which Oil??? - Mercruiser Power Trim Pump - SAE J1171 Marine

I see the manual calls for Power Trim and Steering Fluid 92-90100A12. If I was to switch I'd make sure all the old oil/water was gone before adding something new or different.

Which Oil??? - Mercruiser Power Trim Pump - SAE J1171 Marine

You don't say what year mercruiser you have but if it looked like 10W-30 it very well could have been. You can use Dexron III, 10W-30 or I guess power trim fluid. It doesn't care. At least the older one's didn't.

    Overhauled 4.3

7 years ago I bought a boat with a motor that had been rebuilt in 1992 by a good machine shop. Still runs like new.

    Starcraft Identification Help

That's a nice looking boat! It does look like the one I have. I downloaded the 1966 brochure and it shows the specs for it. Do they have a serial number or identification number on them anywhere?

    Starcraft Identification Help

Sorry meant to put the length in. It's 18 ft. Stern is 78" wide and by the windshield is 84" wide. Depth from deck to gunnel ranges from 26" to 29". The bow hatch looks factory but I haven't crawled under there yet.

    Starcraft Identification Help

Hi there, I need some help from the Starmada in identifying an older Starcraft I needed a trailer and picked up a 75 Shorelander roller/bunk with a boat on top. If it was fiberglass it would be at the dump already. What year/model do you think it is? Too old for a HIN. What's the maximum...

    Trim tab tubing options?

I went through this a few years ago. I wasn't trying to save money but I needed hose asap and the Bennett hose was going to take awhile to get. I used Parker NBR-4-050 hose. It has a burst pressure of 2500 psi. My notes show I might have been able to use NBR-4-035 with a burst pressure of 1700...

    Boat and trailer length

Shocks will not raise the height of your vehicle. It's ok to get the tailpipe in the water. Depending how deep you go in it might be best to not shut the motor off. Do you have a roller or bunk trailer?

    Tachometer reading half RPMs?

Did it ever work properly? If not, I can only guess that it's not compatible with a 2 stroke.

Oil Fill - Mercruiser 3.0 TKS

Welcome, that's a good question. The oil pan at the bottom of the engine holds the oil. That's what the dipstick measures. There is a pump in the oil pan that pumps oil throughout the engine when it's running. As you thought, the oil fill cap is just for filling. When you look into it you may...

Shocks AND leaf springs on my trailer??

Shocks and springs do different things. They are not mutually exclusive. The shocks will dampen the effects of the springs. I'm not saying you need them, but they won't hurt.

Problem with removing the Ujoints Alpha 1 Gen 2

If 1 or 2 teeth are broken that will not cause a problem You do not have to unscrew the nut. I would not unscrew the nut. The quadrant oring will be ok.

    Considering '13 Bayliner 215

If it's been taken care of that boat should meet your needs just fine. The build quality for that era is good.

    Mercury optimax 115 trim

Just like your I/O I would think for slow cruising 5-10 mph it should be trimmed all the way down.

    5.7 mercruiser deck boat

Max rpm at WOT for that motor is 4200-4600. Is this a new to you boat? Did it ever work better? What prop do you have on it? You may have to prop down to get the rev's up to where they should be at WOT.
