    Engine weight

I get it guys. I’m honestly a huge 2 stroke fan. No doubt about it. But honestly blown away by this 4 stroke I have currently. Takes a lot to say that out loud. Let me tell you. Honest there isn’t or hasn’t ever been a 115 2 stroke that could come close to it. V4 yam might have a good try at it...

    different prop

If you have a trim anode fin on the outdrive, be mindful that this prop might contact it. Likely you don’t …but just in case.

    Engine weight

I get you. Totally wondered the same thing. But all I’d say is that I’ve put close to 1300 hours on mine in the last 3 years. Had 18 when I got the boat. Now has about 1320 last I checked. Been faultless apart from needing the fuel rail filter cleaned every 300 hours. There is an aluminium small...

    Engine weight

Most of them are jimmbo. Agree…and totally agreed with you belt and buckle…before by chance, I ended up owning one. But I’m almost embarrassed to confess…that certainly the one I have…is an exceptional thing. Was so surprised at what it manages. Will cast iron bet my life on it, that there isn’t...

    Engine weight

I’d normally agree for sure. But comparing the 115 version (same engine but ecu different) to the 2 stroke equivalent, the new 4 stroke is lighter, faster and the rest. There isn’t a 115 2 stroke on the planet that would come close to that new 2.1l 4 stroke 115. It even dusted the 125 optimax in...

    Engine weight

Hi. The 75/90/100/115 new mercs are all that weight (very light for a 115). There are newer versions of your boat with the 115’s fitted these days. Personally if it’s an option…I’d be tempted to just go for the 115 version. The 115 version is an incredible motor and well over the hp suggested on...

    Electric panel toilet switch

I think there are a few options it could be AD. Could be the macerator, black water toilet pump out (to shore or overboard), electric toilet flush main switch or the shower drain pump (usually has a float switch for that system I’d think). Picture might help.

Fuel Rail assembly 5.0 MPI OW376228

Hi I’ll be winterising mine in the next few days. I’ll try and take some pics.

    Electric panel toilet switch

Hi. As above, unless it’s actually for the shower pump out.

    different prop

Worth a try, if it’s cheap enough to take a gamble on, or if you can try it first. If you have a trim anode fin, have it in mind that you may need to replace it with the recessed or more likely, the flat one…just for clearance

    different prop

What kind of prop is it ? Unusual size, is my initial thought.

    different prop

Scott is right to be fair. Really don’t want to be below the rpm range. Puts a load of strain on the engine, in terms of premature bearing and component wear. That aside, if you can…go into a reputable shop or dealer and see if you can try out a 15” or anything close, to see where you are. As I...

    different prop

Ah. Just posted that above between you responding there. Even getting 4300 is doing fairly well. Fair play. In that case, I’d be careful around a 4 blade, just with some of them returning lower rpms than the same pitch 3 blade. Not all…but some certainly will. You’re also on the edge of running...

    different prop

Hi. I’d double check that ratio at Scott says. I have a 1.47 on my 5.0…but it’s an mpi and on a performance hull. Be quite a rare pairing otherwise I’d think…especially on a boat that size and a carb. That’s unless it used to have a 5.7 in her previously perhaps ? Anyway. I’d guess that if she...

Change prop or leave as is

Think you’re about good there. I’m sure it’s in my head that the peak power is rated or taken about 5500 to 5800 on those engines. Should be good as you are, unless you aren’t happy with the acceleration Perhaps. Sounds good to me though. Big fan of the k series props they come with.

Mystery hose on Mercruiser 5.0 turns out to be AWESOME!!!

Hi. I have this on mine too. Used it once. It’s meant to pull out the drain plug on the hull. What a bloody pain to mess about with and ended up taking out the same amount as I do with the vacuum pump out the dip stick. Just my thoughts on it.

    Prop size info

Presumably the engine has been replaced at some point. See if you can find out the rpm range. I’d think you might want or go down an inch or two though, at first glance.
  18. Q

    Yep, another prop question!

I get it. No doubt. Although there is an argument for not being underpropped for breaking in. Thought I’d mention.

    excessive corrosion?

As long as the continuity (ohms reading) between what’s supposed to be adjoining and protected, is close to zero….should be good. Flashback above and previous post around voltage perhaps relevant too. Apologies if I confused things earlier.
