    You’re right there, for sure. About the rpms raising on these engine over the years. Slightly related to that…I’ve always wondered around the 350 mpi at 300hp and 4600-5000 rpm and the the 6.2 mpi at 320hp and 4800-6200 rpm. You’d think a stroked engine and 200 more rpm might do a little better...

Or even a temperature sensor can have an effect on the way these run. So if it thinks it’s cold…it can run a richer fuel mix. Maybe your temp sensor is having...

    Is there a shift switch on that age of 4 stroke ? If your cables are tight, that can result in an issue with that. It certainly does on the newer merc anyway. Could be the IAC too, you’re right. But I think it would run fast idle or iratic idle as a tell tale.

    No probs. It’s defo a real thing with these type engines. I was so confused one spring launch…when my mpi wouldn’t start at all…despite cranking over fairly healthily. Charged the battery on boost for half an hour…fired right up. Further verified, by another 2 mpi and 1 efi outboard boats...

    Technically that should be unlikely these days. Gone are the older days of fixed hard splined to shaft stainless props. These days they have a sacrificial hub kit in them, that is designed to break, in the event of this. Wouldn’t let this put you off.

    She looks a stunner ! You think you are maybe over propped already ? Sounds like you have a 1.47/1.5 ratio and need a 19” prop perhaps? That speed is quite comparable to the 21 excel here. With the 7.4. He will run about mid 50’s gps.

Think it’s just 4.5 and 6.2 of various power output through mapping Perhaps. Likely is a last of them GM 350 mpi. Not sure. If it was…would that age still...

    So it will either have the older square type or the newer round type. See pics below. If it doesn’t…I’d be worried that it wasn’t a laser 2 at all !
