    I’d imagine that marinised versions of these engines are worked far harder than the engines found in a car…where in that form, they sit at 1500-3000 rpm most of their operational life. In a boat, they’d often be up and over 4000 often, you’d think.

    So just looked it up. I was right. You have a higher ratio than normal. It’s a 1.78 to one or something like that. Most 150 2 stroke around then were 1.9-1, 2-1 or close. That explains everything really. I think it’s also the smaller gear case too.

    Hi. Ok a normal 150 2.0 I think you’d be not far off or a little under pitched…but do those engines you have not have the smaller gear box with the higher ratio than normal ? Think the mariner magnum version or maybe the merc xr other models do anyway.

    A good sealant will work. I used CT1 last time. But have used normal silicone lots of times previously. Remember and test a few locations first off, with Vaseline or something similar.
