    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

Im of the mindset, the block froze, why take a chance killing the next block with potentially freeze cracked manifolds. you could also put a 5.0/5.7 block in there, run the same accessories you have. you need a new intake and exhaust manifolds anyway.

1971 Glastron GT160 Rear Drain Hole Question

Welcome aboard As an engineer and a realist, the aluminum plate is a bandaid applied over a broken back/legs/etc of the boats skeleton. it may offer a bit of comfort, however it wont keep the motor and transom attached to the boat unless there is also aluminum plates sistering the stringers...

    Crack in the Jon

i would get it welded. if you dont want to do that, you need to rivet a patch panel over the crack and basically add some structure around it. the JB weld wont do anything in this situation but make your wallet lighter.

    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

As of today there are 8-10 different generations of 4.3. Your current motor is a 93-95 vintage. Assume your intake manifold is trashed from the same lack of winterizing that killed the motor. Same for exhaust manifolds The next generation of motors are the 1996-2000, 2001-2007, 2008-201x...

Trying to determine proper engine/ trans/ prop pairing

what pitch props are on the boat now? jumping 1000 RPM in props is about 4-6" in pitch you may not be able to prop that much since the motor is a replacement, is the throttle opening fully? right now there are a few million boats for sale as the marine market is stalled both new and used...

Trying to determine proper engine/ trans/ prop pairing

only turned the motor 4000 RPM and stopped giving it throttle or did it only turn 4000 RPM with teh gear ratio and prop? Because the first scenario is someone too chicken to open the throttle, the second is over-propped scenario which kills motor. Until you @Will Steinbeck take the boat out...

Curious, how are old boats disposed of that marinas refuse to haul out?

a good buddy of mine is a diver that helps anchor boats and items to the sea bed for starting artificial reefs. yes, the boats are stripped completely of any contaminates, fuels, lubricants, etc. the sites are chosen, approved by the appropriate folk, the area is mapped, marked, etc long...

used to beach all the time on longboat pass's beercan beach with the searay. bow was up on shore, prop was in 11 feet of swift moving water. after 3 or 4 times, wore thru the gel, went to a keel guard. Now its no longer legal to pull up on that beach
