4.3 runs great for about 30 minutes then bogs, pops won't accelerate

Try opening the fuel tank fill cap to see if the fuel tank is under vaccum due to a plugged vent. Did this start immediately when swapping the carb or were you having carb issues before swapping the carb? reving in neutral is relatively meaning less as the engine is not under load. Do you...

    4.3 mercruiser alpha 1

Before you jank engine I would try pulling the drive to ensure that the drive, gimbal or u joints aren't locked up. Then use a strap wrench on balancer so you don't risk breaking the balancer bolt off in the crank.

How to install a temp gauge on an engine outside of boat?

I used a $20 bosch mechanical gauge from the auto parts store. there were a few 1/2” pipe plugs on the water crossover thermostat housing that I stabbed it into

Assembling exhaust manifolds, risers and elbows - Loctite 510?

bondo is saying put the gaskets on dry , use the perfect seal on the bolt threads. Perfect seal seems to be a magic potion keeping the threads from corroding so you can get them apart next time ….

    Sank the 'ol girl!?!

Are you getting clean gas to the carb and a strong spark? Was fuel filter changed ? Might be water in the line. Dribble gas down carb someone cranks it should be able to keep it running if u have spark wnd fuel contamination is the issue

    4.3 mercruiser alpha 1

As mentioned another 4.3 is simplest. Not sure what boat this is in And if a V8 would fit in enginecompartment I swapped a 4.3 for a V8 in my 21 ft sea ray. It was easy because the boat was offered with a V8 from factory, so engine mount stringers were big enough to accommodate the mounts...

    4.3 mercruiser alpha 1

Might pull the drive - if there was water in bellows gimbal or ujoints may be frozen as well.

    Gimball ???

Definitely first place to look is gimbal bearing and ujoints. If water is in there probably both are an issue Can it wait hard to tell from my keyboard. Never let one go that far to locking up .

Shift interrupt switch - how to adjust??

Yes should take little effort like shift with two fingers. if it is hanging up jank drive and see if it is cable (likely) or shift rod and swivel shaft in bellhousing. Can get junk where the shaft slide is

Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen II leaking above speedo hose

That hole goes into the exhaust passage which is has the cooling water that is dumped overboard (exhaust is open to water on prop end) . The clip on the hose for the speedo is supposed to go in there, likely it was broken off at some point.

    Camshaft specs. needed, modification feasible?

Glad someone mentioned about the head work - valve spring and retainer to guide clearance issues. Even if it should work on paper check. I had an issue where someone messed up an older valve job , left the exhaust valve guides .090" higher when cutting down for viton seals. even with stock lift...

Ahh, thats not good. Did it turn over freely. Would check outside of block and exhaust manifolds. Could have gotten down carb but not a great start. if you run into an issue a vortec 4.3 out of wrecking yard is an easy swap over

Mercruiser 3.0 stalls after breaking through waves/wake

I don't think oil pressure alarm shut off the engine. the alarm goes off when the engine dies and is still in run (assme you mean run not acc). Willing to bet your key or more likely man overboard switch is cutting off the ignition. I had a similar situation when going WOT over waves. toggled...
