    Question of HP

That ETec is a powerful engine. It should run circles around the old Merc. Tach it out and put on the correct prop and it'll be alright. To answer your original question, a new 50 HP 4-stroke would be an appropriate replacement. Be sure to install a tach on the boat, and then prop it so that...

What's the rated HP for the hull?

    Newbie few trailer issues

No its not true. Back in the golden age of trailer boating the experts wrote books on how to set up a trailer. Today people don't read instruction manuals any more, plus boats come as package deals and nobody uses rollers any more (except those that pay extra for a property built trailer). An...

    Replacing keel roller with boat

Secure the trailer to the TV. Loosen the winch cable. Jack up the boat with a good jack and then replace the rollers. Leave them in the down position and then lower the boat. Put the jack under the roller brackets, one at a time and raise them up until you feel firm contact on the keel...

    AOL Broken

In my working years I used to write computer code. Hence my frustration here not being able to solve a seemingly simple problem. When you made the "upgrade" and I had the initial problem, I did a lot of things and eventually crashed my computer. It was a Win 8 that had been upgraded to Win...

That's what I'm doing now. My post #1 explains why its such a PITA.

    New boat advice

Options are abundant. We chose the optional split bow rail because we sometimes beach. A full bow rail is also available. We also chose a a full cushion over the bow casting platform so the wife can lie down in the sun. Also, just in front of the console is a cooler with a cushioned seat...

    AOL Broken

I have been using AOL for about 30 years. I had Iboats bookmarked for all that time and it worked fine. A few months ago, when you were down for several days to upgrade to the new format, when you came back up everything continued to work well. Then, you went down for a second time, only for...

    AOL Broken

Change CAN be good, but change for the sake of change makes no sense. I'm a Chevy Evinrude guy. I would never even look at a Ford or heaven forbid a Kiekhaefer Mercury. Today my 2 daily driver boats each sport 2 Mercury 4-strokes, and I drive a Ford Product Crossover. So, yes, I'll remember....

    AOL Broken

Way back in the '80's they were one of the few ISPs. Its too much trouble to try to transfer 30 years of business links somewhere else. Plus, my AOL email address is known to too many customers, and if I switch now and try to communicate the change I'll probably lose too many of them.

    AOL Broken

I use the AOL browser. I know its stupid, but I like it. I have hundreds of links on it, so I don't want to change. Since the changes here, I can't log in. It won't accept AOL. Having to view my hundred links on AOL and then switch to Microsoft Edge for this one single web page is a PITA...

    SeaDek

Our 19' cockpit was also $1800, and the swim platform was $600. The cockpit is snap in, so if there was ever an issue, any single part could be replaced. The snap in is mounted on a separate base, which makes it even more comfortable to walk on. The mechanics that set up the boat and...

    Clip for wiring harness

I never leave wires dangling. The cord between the plug and the entry point to the trailer tongue is only 2 inches long. The "extension cord" that connects the car to the trailer is stored in the trunk along with the trailer hitch ball mount, that is only used when towing the trailer.

    New boat advice

I have periodic back problems now. I bought my Boston Whaler Center Console with the expectation that I might have greater issues later on. The freeboard is actually low, making for a lighter hull that needs less HP. But the boat is equipped with 24" high handrails all the way around (and...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

You need to research the boat specifications thoroughly. There should be a plate that shows max HP and weights. 730 pounds might be close to the safe capacity and adding more weight might be dangerous.

    SeaDek

My Whaler has a FG non-skid deck. Its easy to clean with a mop, but nevertheless it always looks dirty. When we swim off the boat and come back in dripping wet, the deck gets slippery, regardless of the "diamond grip". However, the worst part is that the bow section (not under the bimini) is...

    SeaDek

Wine and high heels will damage SeaDek. But, if you are drinking wine while wearing high heels you're probably not in a little bowrider. In that case you probably have real teak on the deck.

    SeaDek

If I ever buy another boat it will have SeaDek in the cockpit and on the swim platform no matter what the cost. See my comments and pics in the referenced thread.
