    As an alternative to wood, you might consider some Starboard roughed up with some 50 grit. Apply some plastic drop cloth pressed down over the area while the resin cures for s smooth finish.

    You will probably find that the foam backing on the headliner material has disintegrated and it will be a challenge to get it to stay in place. Since you'd have to expose it to apply adhesive, you may as well just install new headliner material. BTDT.

    It's called horsepower (HP) and you are at the maximum horsepower that the engine can put out . . . and the fact that 2 different props give you the same resulting speed demonstrates it.

    My concern is that boats tend to rot from the keel upward AND from the stern towards the bow. You found a fair amount of rot in the bow (cabin), and it seems like there is more to investigate. Of course your pictures are mostly close-ups so it is hard to tell from an overall perspective.
