Trophy 2159 Alaska Bulkhead Cabin Size

Probably nothing. Deck space takes precedence over cabin space in a fishing boat

Extra cost(s) breakdown of storing boat in a saltwater marina?

Not a concern if you’re not worried about resale, but you’re going to take a significant depreciation hit by adding bottom paint to a trailer boat. Most trailer boaters want nothing to do with bottom paint

Lake depth and how shallow can you run?

The real question.....how much do you trust the depth readings on the chart? My hull drafts 14” and I have a 25” leg. Have my depth alarm set at 30”. Start kicking mud/sand at idle in 24” of water. Can "navigate" in as little as 18" (sand bottom) with the motor trimmed up.

    Any upstate NYers around?

Know 219 between Du Bois and Buffalo all too well. Travel travel that route 3-4 times a year to visit customers in Buffalo and Ontario. Typically run up 99 to Port Matilda then take 322 over to Du Bois to pick up 219. Nice drive, but pretty barren of "to do and see" type places. The Zippo...

The tank should be vented outside the hull to prevent fumes from accumulating on the deck

    Sure Lube Spindle issues.

As Bondo stated. Take an ice pick, or similar utensil and punch a hole in the speedi-sleeve. Hardest part of the task is locating the hole to punch the sleeve

What to use to prevent oxidation on fuse box terminals?

Funny you should say that…the need to apply silicon to terminals is one of my competitor’s aches heel. Literally have a slide in my PP presentation to shine light on the issue. In this case, you’re better off replacing the unit than band aide. Hope it doesn’t come back to bit you in the end.

225 mercury saltwater temperature rising after shut off

…or the wiring or gauge. Run the boat to simulate conditions. Pull the wires off both sensors and measure the outputs. Output (ohms) of both sensors should be very close, if not identical. If the outputs are the same, pull wires from the back of gauge and run the test again. If nothing...

    What oil to use??

Agree... but TCW-3 was not the specification, per say. They specified a Synthetic Blended oil (Mercury Premium Plus, my favorite at the time) and advised against the use of Mercury Premium (dino oil), their primary TCW-3 rated product at the time. To keep carbon buildup to a minimum, Mercury...

What to use to prevent oxidation on fuse box terminals?

I can’t share in a public forum what my Service Manager and Senior field service Engineer think about “greasing” electrical contacts, but I can tell you nothing good comes from it. Do yourself a favor and just replace it with a ATC panel with nickel contacts. If you don’t want to replace the...

    What oil to use??

Mercury Marine recommends the OptiMax DFI oil for Mercury OptiMax, Pro XS and XS motors. If you can not find Mercury or QuickSilver DFI oil, Mercury or QuickSilver Premium Plus can be used in your OptiMax or Pro XS. Do NOT use Mercury or QuickSilver Premium 2 Stroke oil in OptiMax or Pro XS...

Lower unit impeller, metal sleeve or no sleeve??

Between the development of new plastic compounds and advancements in injection molding, I could see the metal insert going by the wayside I’m surprised they didn’t go to some sort of plastic (Polyethylene) insert sooner
