    Carbureted 5.7 merc, no fire

When you are running at idle look down carb bores to see if fuel is weeping off the booster or bowl is over flowing. Either would be indicative of needle/seat/float issues or too much fuel pressure.

    oil change

This wont save you any money but works very well Bought one for the boat worked so well I bought another for home, its how I get the oil out of all of my vehicles now. If you spin your own wrenches something like this or one of the other extractors is worth the investment for hassle free work...

    Throttle Lever Replacement

As mentioned trailer is the second detent on up button. If you have one with a separate trailer button i doubt its original to the boat. Last boat i had with separate trailer button was a 1991

    Throttle Lever Replacement

Yeah it will be an OEM merc - have never seen parts sold for them so likely you will need controller. After seeing the price I bet your old one looks better. IF it is cosmetic on the handle look at some of the plastic spray paints they have or paint made to restore black plastic car parts like...

    Inboard 2011 4.3 Merc

yes cable needs to get unscrewed at bellhousing and pulled back , then change shift bellows. You udo the shift cable end at engine, pull the cable core out the bellhousing by (drive end). I run a weed whacker wire up cable back up cable and tie off on engine. Pull outer cable out leaving...

Alpha 1 Gen 1 Sterndrive install

those orings can be a PITA to get the driveshaft in the gimbal - Also when checking alignment and trying to get the drive seated you can build up a lot of grease in the coupler making it harder. While you dont want to force anything sometimes a kick or a little persuasion on the back of the...

1400 RPM loss from 13 to 15 pitch!!!

You were barely tapping your rev limiter on the original prop- that is basically about as good as it gets prop wise for a rig like yours. That is exactly how I prop my boat, just cause it can hit rev limiter doesn't mean you have to leave it pegged there. One of the issues maybe overlooking...

    Need help/suggestions on new prop

What is your current WOT rpm performance ? Yes 4 blade will help with water toys. I have run four blades on my last two boats because my use is entirely loaded down watersports. I assume your current prop is SS as it is made by Turbo ? There proably are marking inside the hub by the flange...

    RPM Too High?

You are propped perfectly as long as your tach is accurate. You are better off as you are being slightly over propped then under propped and lugging the engine. I wouldn't say you have to change the prop based on being 200 rpm over , but since you own the SS I would go ahead and try it for...

how does one flush out rust from block?

I have used this on classic cars but leave it in for a while. It is made by the evapo rust company. Got a lot of chunks out of my block on a 65 Pontiac. to really do it I think you would need to rig up a big tub under outdrive and idle relief ports, fill block and tub with this, rig up a sump...

    1996 Mercruiser 5.7L misfire/no run issue...ignition module?

In addition to what was listed if it happens again above try disconnecting the tach wire (grey) at negative post of the coil. If you were having tach issues a tach can kill the ignition.

    Ford 302 spark plug read

So what did u try so far? Moved the accelerator pump rod to closest hole to carb body ( largest shot) and tried the heaviest spring ( goes rich sooner)? this implys too much fuel. Would swap a lighter spring in like the yellow to see if going rich on the step up rods later is an improvement is...

    Carbureted 5.7 merc, no fire

can the spark jump a 3/8" gap on a simple spark tester? if it doesn't cough on ether would suspect you don't have a strong enough spark. Rarley the coil but would ohm it out. You say you had spark at wires do you mean wires coming out of cap? Are you sure you are not loosing spark inside...
