    You can’t assume they both make the same HP. Actual output can be plus or minus 10% of the “rated” HP. Example: The 2 stroke could be 81 hp and the 4 stroke could be 99 hp. Extreme comparison but possible with the rating system

    Personally wouldn’t own a boat w/o helm controlled tabs Bow control and load balancing are their two biggest attributes but certainly could help minimize wonder. Depends on your expectation of “straight” Are you driving or steering?

    Look around a bit……the Standard Horizon GX1850W supports NMEA 2000 for $210 Moot point if the OP has a newer Garmin as it appears to be. The NMEA 0183 wires are bundled in with the power connector

    Yep..same thing. Stuck in the overheat, over cool cycle. Not enough heat to open stat until rev kick up. Stat opens, engine cools, stat closes process starts all over again Have seen by-pass holes drilled in stats to help with this problem.
