I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Found a Kingfisher logo I like and modded it up a bit. It would be used in conjunction with a Starcraft logo of course. I obviously wouldn't use it this big. This is just to show what it looks like.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This evening the boy and I went out and got the stern area stripped, cleaned up, the groove cut and so on. Then we tilted the boat. Something I'd not done last week but which I did do when I initially sealed the boat a few years ago. After the boat was tilted, I applied the Gluvit. It...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sigh. I shouldn't be left alone with time on my hands. I only confuse myself.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My ol' buddy and his son took me out to breakfast at our favorite eatery :hungry: this morning and while there, I discussed my box cutting situation. Ol' Charlie said that I could use his air-powered cutoff tool. Cool! :tea: So a little later he dropped by and we did the markup on the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Well guys, I did figure out a solution for the logo situation. I'll address it later as there are a bunch of different options available in the solution set and I need to choose the one I want to use. But I'll be "correcting" the "reversed" logo when I get the KF done. And y'all are gonna love...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This afternoon the boy and I pushed the KF back into the garage. Thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow. Winter's over! :smow: Dangit. :blue: I finished stripping the other end of the storage box. Am now thinking about the best way to cut it in half. Sawzall may not be precise enough. I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

My ol' buddy came over for a visit this morning, so we sat in the garage and chatted while I worked. That was nice, since I am NOT allowed to be left unsupervised! The first thing we did was to push the KF out the back door of the garage so that it could be drained. No problemo. I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yeah, I'm thinking that I missed part of the leak by not going far enough astern. I'll remedy that tomorrow. I counted the rivets from the stern to the leak location and I'll be sure to get plenty of overlap. And if I can, I'll get a real close up look to see if there are any crooked rivets...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I got the metal storage box disassembled today and started stripping. Got the 2 long sides done. Took THREE applications on each side because there were FOUR layers of paint on there! The original Starcraft cream, a layer of brownish orange stuff and two layers of gray. Whew! The...

Small anchor for 1040 Lowe Jon boat

I used the folding anchor on my 11 foot dinghy which was used in tidal waters for fishing. Even with strong tidal currents it held just fine. For my 16 foot Kingfisher I use a 10 pound mushroom anchor which came with the boat. I fish a riverine lake and it holds well in the current there...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yah, by breaking the box into two sections, I can still use them under a pair of the seats for storage but provide a more functional layout pattern. Something like so. The captain and rearmost seats would have the storage boxes underneath. I'm also planning on moving the trolling motor to the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

After dinner it was time to work on the storage box/seating situation. We needed to get it apart so that the metal can be stripped. I'll also have to fabricate new seat bases as well as waterproof them using the Old Timers Formula. :yo: Some kind soul decided that the best way to attach...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

And then this happened! I was literally in the middle of applying the Gluvit when my wife walked into the garage and asked what I was doing. So I showed her. At that point she said that we needed to leave! Huh? Turns out she'd ordered Chinese take-out and we needed to go pick it up. :D So...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The next step was to mix up some Gluvit! I uh, "borrowed" a household tablespoon sized measuring spoon so that I could accurately mix the 5:1 Gluvit to catalyst ratio. I mixed up too much of the Gluvit, as usual. But I glopped it all on there so that it can work its magic.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This afternoon the boy and I went out to the garage to get KF stuff done. I used a rotary tool to cut into the seam and grind out the Gluvit there. I was careful not to go too deep and accidentally cut a rivet! I didn't reach any obvious voids but a couple of times I did "run into" some of...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We had a great day today. Made progress on the KF too! :D After we had my wife's car oil changed we went to a nice restaurant for lunch over the water! Nice place. Our first time there but it won't be the last, that's for sure. Great food, nice view and super staff.

    BOOM!!

Wow, I started this thread 2 years ago today! Time sure is flying by. And I still haven't started this project yet! Been a tough couple of years for me health-wise but I promise that once I get started on this one that I won't rush through it like I'm doing with the Kingfisher...

Small anchor for 1040 Lowe Jon boat

I'd say one of these would work fine. Inexpensive and folds up out of the way easily to conserve on board storage space. And iboats members get a 5% discount. ;) https://www.iboats.com/shop/seadog-line-folding-anchor-3-5lb-1-2-eye-grappling-anchors.html

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

One more thing on my list of things to do soon is to have the fenders welded to the trailer frame. I bought 'em about 2 1/2 years ago and they've just been laying around since then. Found them while I was looking for something else and laid one on top of a tire to show what it's like. I hope...
