    Need to vent....

I had a 1993 as well. The 88-93 were Brazilian made. Basically the old 1.8 VW 2-valve motor with the old Audi 4000 transmission in an old tooled Audi Fox body. Good daily in town, sucked on the highway if you had to pass as there was not much power Bought mine for $400 with a parts car...

    Terribly stoopid question

its the crank knurling that guides the oil on the seals on a 2-piece RMS crank Side note - Bud of mine received a RH crank once by accident and could not keep the mains from leaking. we discovered on tear down. Machine shop did the work to swap the crank and covered the bearings/gaskets but...

there are a few. Fluke 88 is one but requires an inductive pickup. you can also wrap a wire around a single sparkplug wire as an inductive pickup, read frequency in HZ, and multiply by 60 to get RPM

best place to get reman 5.7 mercruiser

I would start with your local machine shop and rebuild yours. This will be your lowest cost, however require you to turn some wrenches if you want just a long block, you can get them from Michigan Motorz, or ATK engines (also available via Summit and Jegs). This will be a moderate cost and...

    Engine over heats

You have an inlet issue. Most likely a broken inlet fitting. Just follow the hose from the transom shield to the drive. That little white metal or plastic fitting is a common inlet issue The PS cooler and the oil cooler use 1/4" OD tubing with 0.020" wall for the tube bundle. Doesn't take...

    Terribly stoopid question

Only other easy way. Using a prybar on the flywheel or proper crank snout socket, turn the motor over while looking at the cam thru the distributor hole DO NOT turn the crank from the crank bolt As you turn the crank, the motor that the cam turns the same direction is the motor that is the...

    Terribly stoopid question

confirm by the tag on the transmissions that you do have a RH and LH motor. Port prop is normally a LH prop and Starboard is a RH. with old gear, the revers rotation (RH) would go on the starboard side

bow navigation wire runs through the railing… where does it come into the main section?

The wiring will most likely be coming up one of the ends thru the end nut-penny, most likely on the helm side. it would be too difficult to run the wires up a stanchion.
