Mercruiser 5.0 crankshaft front oil seal replacement

While the old style tin parts can rust through I think they’re better than plastic! Just spray the timing chain cover & oil pan once a year with Corrosion X. Worked for me 20+ years in salt water!

    5.7 Automotive Intake manifold

You can find cast iron used intakes (won't find new for a '94, that should be a pre-vortec 12 bolt unit) on ebay, I found a nice spare for my old pre-vortec 4.3 that way. If you meant that you have a closed cooling system, then yes you could use an aluminum automotive intake, the corrosion...

Has anyone built a boat with Marine Plywood

There's a guy on the hull truth forum who built a Toleman, check it out, beautiful boat, a tree fell on it in a storm and he was able to repair it himself.

    yamaha fourstroke crank bearings

You get the idea that they don't want anyone rebuilding them, but shops that sell remans, must get those parts from somewhere!

    Winterizing time!

Perhaps Scott can say, I don't have any OMC Stringer experience, only on the Cobra which is more like a Mercrusier.

    Winterizing time!

Check bellows, gimble bearing and ujoints, and also engine alignment....yearly is what is recommended....mine lives in the salt water 6 months each year, if you don't do this, sooner or later it will bite you in the wallet! Original transom mount, trim pump, trim rams, ujoints, just a few drive...

    Winterizing time!

If you don't pull the drive regularly on an I/O and your bellows leaks, the repair cost will surprise you. These I/Os are high maintenance machines unlike outboards and need regular maintenance to be reliable. I do mine every year and have avoided repairs that many others get stuck with....

    1988 Rogue 2420

I know many scoff at my opinion on this but I have gotten great service out of Kenda Load Star bias ply trailer tires. I run em till I see cracks starting then replace. That works out to about every 7 years. Never even had a flat let alone a delamination. I’m not a fan of radial trailer tires...

    Stalls out hot

If you’re smelling fuel the carb might be flooding; the needle valve may not be holding or the float might be adjusted too high or absorbing fuel & not closing off the fuel flow.

    4.3 Harmonic Balancer

As much as I want a reman 4.3, one thing that concerns me is all the variations. Will the reman engine sellers get it right? Or am I better off with a local machine shop? The easiest thing would be to replace what I have (pre Vortec, no balance shaft, roller cam, mechanical fuel pump) with the...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

With respect to smaller tow vehicles: 1) payload is a non-issue for me because I'm not taking the boat on vacation, I live 300 ft from a beach and it goes on mooring for the whole season. 2) this Jeep has electronic lockers in the rear and FRONT. No other vehicle in recent production to my...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

So a pick up or larger SUV isn't a horrible tow vehicle when you overload it to the same extent? There are people on www.jeepsforum.com that have towed 6000-7000 lbs with these Jeeps either the V8 Hemi or the TurboDiesel version. Without problems!

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

If he had 1,000 lbs tongue weight he’s towing overweight! The max tongue weight on these is 750 lbs but to do that you need a WD hitch or air bags for lighter loads. They are rated at 7200 lbs and I’m towing 5,000 and I don’t even feel it. Has your friend ever had his trailer weighed? If it’s...

Read through all of that a while ago. Hard to believe the differences that happened over the years, even due to what plant it was made in! Mine is a T for Tonawanda unit.
