    Shift issues on 9.9

    The lower shift rod must be screwed all the way in.----Backed out enuff for bend to face forward.-----Notch on lower shift rod MUST line up with hole in connecter before the screw is put in.----There is no adjustment at the brass connecter.

    Many parts would be in stock at a boat shop.------Many consumable parts are same as Johnson / Evinrude.-----Pull the flywheel and inspect ignition coils.----Post picture of the coils.----Powerhead must be removed to install a new water pump impeller.

    They all run great on muffs.----Any water getting into the oil ?-----Post results of a compression test as well.----Perhaps running on 3 of 4 cylinders.----Check spark.---Check valve clearance.

    It is on the shelf because folks buy it.----Oil / lubrication is not well understood.-----Glad I did not have to change the lubricant on the cutlass bearing on my sailboat.

    Inspect your fuel line from bulb to tank including INSIDE the tank !----Many newer plastic tanks have pick up tubes that are plastic junk.
