Are you in fresh water or salt? If in salt the manifolds & elbows are way past due.

Are you sure that the cap, rotor & wires are good, just for fun, ohm out the wires and see what you get. We had a 3 year old Toyota Camry 4 cyl years ago that all the sudden started running on 2 cyls, when I checked the wires, two were totally dead. Very strange, igniton problems are not common...

Continental Trailer Leaf Spring to Torsion Axle Conversion

What I said. Torsions are OK on a single axle but on multi axle trailers one or more can be overloaded, so the axles should have extra capacity vs spring axles that share loads.

Power may be transmitted but the plug may foul for a variety of reasons and not fire properly... reasons: oil leaking past valve seals carb set too rich

Given what you said, it may be that the module in the Prestolite is bad. Last I heard those were NLA but I bet you could convert it to a Petronix (aftermarket electronic conversion) they don't cost much either. First though make sure you have enough voltage at the coil as Kenny said.

    PSA on Winterization Antifreeze

FWIW, I'd either use my mix of Sierra/water, or -100, or just leave it dry I don't trust the other stuff even though it is widely used. In my climate a -75 might be fine if I didn't want to mix but its harder to find. However, I feel that the corrosion inhibitors in the better AF do reduce...

What's the voltage reading at the positive terminal on your coil when you turn the ignition to on but not starting the engine? I had a low voltage to the coil problem on my OMC for years before I tracked it down. After that much better starting and running.

https://www.volvopentastore.com/Distributor-855705/dm/store_id.366--view_id.789715 I think this is what you should have, which appears to be the Prestolite BID system, it has an electronic module but still uses centrifugal advance like the points distributors did. Might try replacing the cap n...

    PSA on Winterization Antifreeze

if you get temps down to zero and want to use -50 or -60 try putting it in the freezer at zero & see what happens…it gets hard…to me that means it doesn’t belong in a cast iron engine that will see temps that low. I mix up my own Sierra PG antifreeze with water. Mixed 50/50 it gives freeze...

    Oil Filter, alt brands

I've used Sierra marine filters which are always available at West Marine and other sellers but I think you can use a good automotive filter as well. Even in my salt water environment I haven't had problems with oil or fuel filters getting rusted; they get changed yearly.

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Was that taken at dawn or sunset....red sky in morning....sailor take warning....the day that Sandy arrived, the sky was that same color red.... and when it the water rose, I had gone out and bought the last 2 gas cans in the hardware store. In this pic, it is 4 hrs before high tide, at when the...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

How we used to go on slippery surfaces with RWD...before everyone had an SUV, the only people who had Jeeps were sportsmen and gas station owners with a CJ with a plow or push bumper on it...We had GM full sizes early to mid 70s and no limited slip, so we used to put some 40 lb sand bags in the...

    5.0GL-C won’t get on plane

There has to be a way of getting at the connections for the fuel tank. Some boats like mine has a hatch that you remove, others have a circular pie plate cover that comes off to reveal the connections. My boat had a similar problem & it was the anti siphon valve which is what the fuel line from...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

An exhaust elbow that was used in salt water can look great on the outside but could be all rotted out under the hoses where you can't see and the ONLY way to tell if your cooling passages are open is to take it apart, if you are suspecting a blockage due to hot running temps. In your case the...
