89 Yamaha Sterndrive bellows and parts

There is only one member here that has any knowledge of them and he can be quite busy.. Can't post links to other retailers but a place in NY claims to have the biggest inventory of Yamaha stern drive parts in the USA. A google search will find them. If you ever decide to swap out drives to a...

    Are we in trouble?

If the engine is a fresh rebuild, then it is better at zero hours.. If it's rebuilt but used, then it's used. It may just have records proving how used or un used it was.. the dealer should discount it accordingly if it is more used than the original which was freeze cracked

Small engine replacement. LoveJoy shaft connector. How does it remove?

A 5hp Briggs should have a 3/4" shaft. That swap is about as easy as it could get. The base plate dimensions are the same. But the clone engine will require new bolts due to the thicker casting.

Bow Trolley on Trailer instead of Winch, stock

It looks too well thought out to not be engineered/ manufactured Norcal trailers still appears to be in business but not manufacturing trailers anymore. Appears they sell Big Tex. I bet that was some in house manufactured deal. Plenty of trailer manufactures have came and went and at varying...

Bow Trolley on Trailer instead of Winch, stock

I bet that trailer has to be deeper than you think to load without power. Hook a winch to pull the trolley and you have an ingenious self centering/ loading trailer. Does it hook the bow eye automatically somehow? I mean that's easy with a manually positioned caribiner or something like that...

Just bought this pontoon from dealer, got home with no straps on back !

Per DOT, all loads must be secure. I don't think federally it's stated that boats specifically must be tied down at the stern, but some states I know do. In any case, all loads must be secure. Not hauling commercially does not give an exemption.

planning first trip to thousand islands

I keep everything possible onboard. One life jacket per seat, throwable, fire extinguisher, flares, safety flag, anchor and bailing bucket, and new navigation lights and wiring I think that having a 14' boat exempts some things but I have it all onboard anyway. The VHF isn't installed yet but...

Hook up boat engine to permanent magnet generator.

Ford has offered inverters for a few years or so. The F150 powerboost uses the trucks EV system to power the outlets which is different.

Choosing an Inboard for homebuilt 20' Glen-L Runabout Monaco

The Monaco is designed as a straight inboard.

Choosing an Inboard for homebuilt 20' Glen-L Runabout Monaco

I'm somewhat familiar with Glen-L, and know the Monaco however I did have to look up the build specs. The boat was designed by Glen Witt I think in the late 60's early 70's, so it specs a 250-350 CID engine. If you convert that into modern times, the 4.3L replaced the 250 I6. So 'compact'...

planning first trip to thousand islands

Neat. I had assumed that 14' was too small for the area. But I do notice that a lot of the rentals are 14-16' center and side consoles Perhaps I will drag it up there.
  13. matt167

    WHAT DID I JUST BUY?

Well, aside from the boat possibly being a rotten deck-over. The 2.3L has not been used in a boat since about 1990 and that was by OMC, which is defunct. You should be able to find parts to keep it going, but you will need to consider used stuff as well

planning first trip to thousand islands

I have the depth sounder. But not the charts. My Fish finder has GPS. I didn't know exactly how 'big' the St Lawrence and Alaxandria bay waters were, but I know I won't put my little boat on Ontario. So I'll probably not take the boat.

planning first trip to thousand islands

My girlfriend and I are considering going to the Thousand Islands this summer. Neither of us have been but it's something we both want to do. few days, up to a week. What is the best way to do a first trip there? I have my little 14' Starcraft but think one or a couple of the Uncle Sam cruises...

    Power Winch To Sell

At .25 on the dollar, with shortages looming. Perhaps a locally owned marine store might buy it... I work at a local tire shop and we sometimes buy un needed tires

Hook up boat engine to permanent magnet generator.

I personally couldn't imagine running a 4cyl to V8 at anything about idle In neutral.. I considered a PTO generator for my tractor until I really thought about the 3cyl diesel screaming at 2000 rpm ( (540 pto speed ) for hours in a power outage.

Hook up boat engine to permanent magnet generator.

For these to work like your thinking, you would need to have a specific rpm met to produce the power. Then you will need an hz gauge and a voltage gauge so that you can set the boat's rpm to run at exactly that speed and match 60hz exactly between 110v and 120v. If you look at PTO generators...

    Best out board motor lock

Boat insurance is fairly cheap. I added full coverage when I bought a new Suzuki 25. A good coupler lock is a real good thing.
