    with a milkshake in the oil. drain the antifreeze from the glycol side and pressure test. should hold 15 psi forever. test the anti-freeze you pull out with a refractometer. make sure it is good. my guess, with the antifreeze low, the coolant freeze point is way to high, so it froze.

    a 12 volt battery is dead at 12 volts, fully charged at 12.7. alternators charge between 13.4 and 14 volts. I think your $1 air core dash gauge is off.

    on an SBC, you are over filled if you are 1" below the oil pan lip. that means the crank is splashing in the oil creating foam
