    Re- Rewiring boat

Well, My new wiring works great, except the lights don't work. Figures. I remember the previous owners said they had trouble with the switches but got them working. I ordered Cole Hersse SPST push pull switches and will run new wiring. They are rated at 10A which should be more than enough.. I...

Going from 8" to 12" wheels -fender clearance?

Just get a length of steel stock ( galvanized if you can ) with the holes in it. Bolt the fender to one side, and use extra holes in the steel stock to raise the fender a couple inches

    PVC board as stringers??

A sheet of Coosa 1" thick is going to be over $600 shipped. When I re do my little Starcrafts transom, I'm considering Coosa, as it's the only structural plywood in my tin boat, but a half sheet isn't that expensive..

    PVC board as stringers??

topic comes up all the time as well as trex decking.. The answer is Coosa board is really the only non wood product that can be used. Starboard can be but is iffy due to thermal expansion

    Is this repairable? Outdrive Chip

You could use quick steel epoxy as well. If you press in where the crack is, and rub off/ remove the excess, there won't be much to file/ sand off.. They make an aluminum version as well. Quick steel has metal filings in the epoxy mixture as a binder/ thickener. The aluminum has aluminum...

Replacing an old outboard on a 1964 MFG Niagara Custom

The biggest hurdle is a going to be short shaft outboard which I know yours is. 25hp Suzuki I think is the biggest short shaft remote that is manufactured currently.. cable drum steering fits fine. I just put a 2021 DF25 on my 66 StarCraft Holiday 14. I removed a '66 mechanical shift Big Twin 40hp

    Dash hole cover up bezel?

Cover plate has to be a little bigger than it was going to be now. I noticed the day I installed the new motor that the NOS Airguide compass I bought in march had leaked oil. I thought I hit it or something as it was leaking pretty good, but I ordered another NOS compass of the same model so I...

    Re- Rewiring boat

I put a brand new nav light on the bow to replace the original that was falling apart. The bulb does not look normal

    Re- Rewiring boat

I wonder how many amps 4 light bulbs would take? Probably under 5a I would think. The bulb for the Nav light I think is halogen though

    Re- Rewiring boat

What are the best push pull type switches that are available? Something that is 'classic looking'? The 1/4 turn switches for my Nav/ anchor lights were 'goobered' when I bought the boat. The wires are soldered directly to the contacts which were broken or cut off for some reason. I am going to...

    moderators

Recently discontinued, means that there is probably one or 2 or more somewhere in the country sitting on a dusty shelf.. Call the manufacture, they can locate dealers that may still have one based un unregistered serial numbers

    1987 Starcraft islander 190v?

Indeed, very much a unicorn. Most Islanders and Chieftan's are I/O, but the outboard boats are very sought after

What tach for 07 Suzuki 140HP?

Suzuki has 2 mechanical tachs out right now, and I think they only differ with the printing on the over-rev light, and that just shows troll mode along with over rev.. I don't think you can use the SMIS 4 gauge or even the C-10 gauge, but the mechanical gauges will work

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

cable for now. I drove the pin out of the OMC quick release so it would come out of the motor adapter, and it fit right together.. But I do have a good used Teleflex helm I could put in later if I want

    Re- Rewiring boat

I was tidying the wiring to the new controller up tonight after work, and noticed. Yeah the wiring for the battery is a rats nest. I think my plan of action is to switch the negative buss with the disconnect switch, and have the motor as a separate connection to the battery. Everything will...

    Re- Rewiring boat

My boat in my signature was powered by a 1966 Johnson 40hp Deluxe, and previous owners had wired it as they saw fit, which was done right in some ways and not in others. They put in a disconnect switch, and half of their electrical bypassed it, but the motor used it at least. I never quite...

    Minimum MPH Boat/Motor?

'64 or '65 I think is the official year they switched to 50:1. Possibly '66, But it had to do with different bearings they had been using for a few years before that and some of the older motors will run on 50:1. Racerone will know.. Either way, buy it because it's a good bet for $50

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

After a few hours, It was time to test run. No choke, no fast idle. Just turn the key. Still need to hang the control cables up under the gunnel and then install the tach but it's about done
