port side exhaust elbow over heating.

No it doesn’t prevent that it is only to have warm exhaust manifolds theoretically preventing condensation during warm up

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

You don’t have them on your set up. My 2004 has them basically it feeds water to risers and manifolds separately risers cold incoming water , manifolds only get hot water after thermostat opens. Works fine on mine

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

I think the flappers are below this in the top of the wye pipe. Does your thermostat housing have the T with plastic balls/poppet valves ? these fan pass too much water to one side or the other if hung up .

    5.0 Mercruiser Problems

Start with basics- remove fuel filter and see if there is anything but fresh clean gasoline in there. Is the choke opening fully or do you have a TKS carb? If tks is the enrichment module kicking on and off like it should ?What do the plugs look like now that you changed them? Set ignition...

    Top speed?

Agreed - also had a 17 ft with 3.0 used a 16" 4 blade for skiing , 18" 4 blade for general use. To op I would repair the prop you have on it or get similar to get a baseline on performance and WOT rpm before experimenting with props. Most shops are like $80-100 to repair a 3 blade AL prop

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

No the down elbow is single wall, water and exhaust mix at the riser elbow. Take it off you may have clogging at the outlet of the riser elbow and perhaps the water isnt cooling all of it. Does that manifold and elbow stay cool otherwise ?

    Need some Help

this is the easiest solution. For years I used the tag off my dads sailboat trailer never had an issue. Also agree that boat is a lot older than 2000's before you invest a bunch of time did you check it for leaks? Older riveted boats tend to leak and can be a pita to fix

    Bellhousing pivot bolt issues....

You really need to apply the heat to the bellhousing not the Pins. The pin threads into the bellhousing would heat that around the pivot point

Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

As long as you are doing that check your lower for corrosion. I think by 07 they were better than the earlier B3's but there is a corrosion potential with these drives. No sense putting a new upper on a corroded lower.

Has anyone self-changed the trim sensors on a 3.0 XL Alpha One drive?

Depends on your skill level. Yes definitely doable. I did this as part of a bellows replacement last weekend. Its not hard , just tedious. I deal job for skinny young guys... Personally I would wait until you need bellows work, if the trim limit switch is bad you can jumper it out to have the...

Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

Absolutely, just depends on how an extra $2k fits into your finances. Its a couple hour job to remove drive replace the upper and reinstall you'd be back on the water quicker with less risk.
