Street Fire Ignition controller instead of Magnapower II

" Street " tells the tale... These are not USCG certified for marine usage. MSD does manufacture marine ignition control boxes with the rating, however my experience with MSD boxes has been they run great until they quit.. Stuff to keep the Chryslers running is still available

    Worth Fixing?

That looks like a very big deck with a short covered bow. Fishing machine if that's what your wanting. It's not the way it was when it left the factory, Looks like someone tried to do some bass boat platforming to it.. $2-4k in materials + time.. Any boat up to the $4k mark could have issues...

    2020 Ranger towing?

The max capacity with the towing package is 7,500 lbs but that is full frontal sq/ft limited ( no campers basically ). Without the pkg, it's 3,500.. This is a turbocharged 2.3L with a 10spd auto. My current truck, when it was all running right towed the big boat 'ok' and it was rated for 5,000

    2020 Ranger towing?

I've put off buying a newer truck for a while, partly because my truck ( tired old1995 F250 ) was still drivable, but also because my girlfriend told me I couldn't... But yesterday my truck basically lost its brakes today , and I got the ok from her to obtain a reasonably priced truck.. Local...

    Is this legit?

And it's going to cost $250 to dispose of the boat.. That's a 'free' boat'... I agree about the trailer being worth it... I actually picked up a free boat for the nice trailer it has under it... but free was the key word

    Is this legit?

I only know of the nickname for the Capri's being Bayliner Crappy's... But yeah this generation they were quick chopper gun laid boats with lots of un encapsulated wood. Pretty much junk from the get go. I tend to like the 80's Capri's with their cool 80's styling, much the same reason I own a...

    Anyone ever shipped an outboard

I've never done it, but people have shipped whole garden tractors with Fastenal.. My girlfriends sister used to work for them. Their lenient rule is basically if you can strap it to a 4' pallet, to the point it can be fork lifted. RL Carriers are often used professionally for car engine...

    tahatsu /mercury

Tohatsu/ Mercury/ Nissan/ Evinrude 4 stroke below 40hp are all basically the same engines. Mercury has their own tiller handles and in some cases the hoods are fancier looking, but same under the hood

    End of Flash Player

You can download the entire website with one of many tools, and then you can get the flash based content converted into html5 with one of many free or paid tools. Since it's not a huge website, the task of finding the manuals that you need wouldn't be hard... However for the short term, flash...

    Cowl paint

Evinrude in the 90's had some black metallic motors. Trackers I think were all similar black metallic or grey I'd paint it Phantom black and don't tell anyone. Re paint the leg as well. Nobody is going to know

    Yamaha outboard value.

I'd give $800 for it running condition all day long especially if you know the exact motor. Can't get a new 4 stroke 15hp Yammy for anywhere close to that, and all you gain is EFI really. A couple years ago I missed out on a 2000 Nissan/ Tohatsu 15hp set up for remote controls for $1,200...

    Old Ford engine help

Is this an F150 or F250/350? It only matters because on 1996 they have completely different ECU's That thing is an intake temp sensor, and the screws on the MAF are security screws.. Harbor freight has a security bit kit for $10

Where to get decent, unbiased info about new outboard choices?

I don't think Suzuki and Yamaha are the same as Tohatsu. I had looked into detail for my boat and their engines at least in the 30hp range are vastly different than Tohatsu in both displacement and cylinder configuration, and they are not the same as well

Where to get decent, unbiased info about new outboard choices?

All brands are equal, depends on what your local dealers are and how much you want to spend... Essentially, look at your local marina's and see what's on the back of boats. Keep in mind, Tohatsu and Mercury in this segment are essentially identical.

    Building A Hardtop

Years ago on my dads old Starcraft Chieftan, he built a lightweight frame and fiberglassed it, and it worked and it wasn't more than 50 lbs or so. It didn't look pro and was quite wavy. Later he built a wooden top that was raised up about 8" farther, and much heavier. The boat handled it but...

    1986 Quadrajet (Chevy Pickup)

Keep in mind an '86 carb could be the CCC carb. Replaces the mixture adjustment with a computer controlled solenoid. Won't work without the ECU/ hardware

Is a 2010 Tohatsu 90 TLDI the same as a Mercury of any type ?

Many of the 4 strokes are Tohat's but none of the 2 strokes that I am aware of

    Merc 7.4l 454 Gen 4 to 5 interchangeable?

Keep in mind, if your exhaust risers/ other parts are still good, then you could very easy grab a TBI 454 out of a wrecking yard and swap over parts. It's the same engine, and all you have to do is add a marine cam, brass core plugs and head gaskets... Chevy 2500 and 3500 trucks and vans are...

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

You can't pull enough timing to prevent detonation with 10.5:1 on regular in an iron engine. Possibly can do it on a raw water boat motor where they typically run colder but it still does not add up good IMO. So this was a new reman engine and the rods were not re sized to the new crank...

    2004 Grand Cherokee stalling/shutting down

Most engines, the crank sensor can be dead and the engine still run because it can use the cam sensor as a reference, albiet limp mode.. But the Jeeps/ most early EFI mopar's will not fire ignition without a crank signal
