    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Yeah, the old tanks were made by Mirax and you'll probably find they might leak

Mariner 4 - The start of a new hobby!

Yes, the Intex boats have an inflation gauge of sorts. It's a printed line that grows to a specific length on the boat. They give you a little peice of plastic that is cut to the measurement.. I never used it. You can tell when it's right

    Wood for bulkheads

In my neck of the woods ( NY ), Douglas Fir ( a preferred species for marine use ) is at least as cheap as anything. I have always bought doug fir for my boat building needs. Home Depot used to be the only place to get it. Recently, I can get it anywhere almost.

Mariner 4 - The start of a new hobby!

I have a seahawk 3, bought just to get on the water late in the season.. Kind of leary of going out in a 20'-40' deep lake near my house, but I had a lightweight outboard and good PFD's onboard, I was comfortable... I have drug bottom twice launching and retrieving and it has no issue. It's a...

2001 Johnson 25 Convert to Electric Start

electric start, yes and it's pretty simple.. Flywheel, starter/ bracket and some cables and a start button. Not 100% like factory but you'll spin it without pulling over. Charging would be a different ballgame

    Medical Alert Systems

My grandfather used a cheaper one than Life Alert, I can't think of the name but it worked great... It dialed 911 and had a speaker/ microphone.. It also dialed my moms cellphone with an emergency message

    OMC Cobra 5.0 302 ford 1989

The GT40 did not come out until the early 1990's.. A 1989 engine would most likely have a set of E7's on it. It may be an HO variant ( 351 firing order ) but nothing special. You could also put GT40's on an engine with E7's originally, and swapping to a marine cam anyway

Ted Williams Brand 5.0 Air Cooled Engines

Sears Parts Direct might even have some NOS stuff. That division of Sears is pretty amazing and I wonder the type of warehouse that it is. I've managed to get parts for a few vintage things from them

    OMC Cobra 5.0 302 ford 1989

The Fords were based on truck engines.. All you need to look for is the cylinder head casting on your engine. If they are E7 as I suspect they are you can get a long or short block from an F150, year pretty much does not matter from 1988 until 1996... From that install marine core plugs, cam...

    Late 70's early 80's 25-35hp...carb difference or?

The original part numbers appear to be different. The latest part number appears to be the same replacement part for both. I did just a quick check for 1979 25 and 35. The 1980's motors I know are different. I looked into converting my 1988 20hp into a 30hp ( 35hp was de rated in the 80's )

    Upgrading batteries and charging system

If your talking about charging off the engine, you can stick a modern marine alternator on it and wire it up really simple and that will give you 100A. Not sure if the lion batteries take 14.4v or need any special conditioning from alternator, like using a charge controller

    95 Mercruiser 3.0L 4Cyl to Diesel Swap?

If I knew the exact engine model I could find the marine parts. But for instance, the earlier OM617 conversion kit, is about 2,000 euro and it would have to come from europe.. The 1990's brought the OM603 and OM605 and OM606... However for the 3.0L OM606 that I think it is, is 1,316 euro for...

    95 Mercruiser 3.0L 4Cyl to Diesel Swap?

for sure your loosing ~40hp. Mercruiser does actually sell Diesel Alpha One's so you could get the leg from a diesel model and it might work ok.. The caveat is SEI does not sell a lower with the correct ratio, so you will only find it NEW from Mercruiser ( $3,500 price range ) With the 3.0L...

    95 Mercruiser 3.0L 4Cyl to Diesel Swap?

You will actually find parts to marinize it in Germany, and you will find parts to convert the bellhousing to SBC from the offroad groups. You will have to run a through hull exhaust, and then deal with a gear ratio that is wayyyyy wrong.. That little diesel does not go much past 3k RPM IIRC...

    Classic Johnson 4hp twin 2-stroke

You will be able to find a usable manual for ~$15 or so if you look. Once you determine if it does or does not have points, will determine what manual you need. Very little changed with them over the years. They went from points/ mag to a CDI system, back to points/ mag for a couple years in...

    Ignition conversion

You could modify a distributor from something else, but being 3cyl, it's kinda limited.. Geo Metro comes to mind as possible.. Bigger project though as it's converting to battery ignition

Maxum boat with Force 125hp outboard.

Force motors were actually decent. They ran well and were reliable, BUT they were an antique design.. Maxum is/ was a Bayliner product, so cheap boat. Sitting 5 years, rotting away, looks like mice/ rodents have been in it too I'd offer $500, but I bet he won't take it

    Chugger boat finally starting construction

FINALLY got time and help to flip this monster over to put the bottom on. I thought it was light, and it 'isn't heavy but it's not light

    Really cool hard top Cruiser

You can you know.. Vermont will allow you to title it in their state with only a bill of sale and you can mail it in to them while being a non resident . 6% sales tax based on value. It gives you a registration card that does have a place to transfer ownership, which would work for the other 49...

    Evinrude Fastwin values?

If they are not locked up with good compression, you can just about fix them with a hammer and a screwdriver and a few wrenches. The parts are available to keep them going.. A marine mechanic may not want to work on it, just as you wouldn't take a 1957 Chevrolet into the dealer for a tune up...
