    5.7 omc carb leak

look in the pic above, air valve torsion spring. Keep in mind that pic shows it with it upside down from how its installed. So when installed it is on the starboard rear side of carb air horn. Need a small mirror to see it.

    5.7 omc carb leak

On the 4bbl Quadrajet the secondaries are mechanically operated but the air flaps above them (secondary air valves) are vacuum operated. There is a spring that keeps them shut till the vacuum drops to a certain level but the tightness of the spring is adjustable. If they open too soon you can...

2 Fuel Water filters ,2 totally different fuel contents,Fuel pros ,have a look at this

Yeah the weather has been bad but this coming week it should be better. I'm going to put the outdrive back on tune it up and I just have to fix some rot in the coaming panel and replace the old OMC remote control, then it's going in.

I dump mine out every season. If I were to see something I don't like I'd probably try to siphon out whatever was in the very bottom of the tank, just to prevent a problem during our short season. If water is a frequent problem the Racor UL listed filters with the metal bowl are superior.

    5.7 omc carb leak

Yep quite impressive water fall. I'd give the threads a light coat of Evinrude gasket sealer or Permatex Aviation, both help prevent corrosion and also may keep them from getting loose.

    5.7 omc carb leak

well I'll be damned, the bolt is out just like you said. I'd start taking off the exhaust manifolds/hoses so you can get in there and tighten them, might need a chiropractor after ward though. I was able to change the steering actuator with the engine in place maybe you can do this...

    Bowriders that handle waves well?

I keep the bow cover on when it gets rough & built a stronger support for it so it doesn’t collapse under the weight of the water. My 88 F/W has a 21* dead rise so it’s pretty stable in rough water.

    5.7 omc carb leak

Well hate to say this but pulling the engine is the only way. And those bolts normally don’t just get loose there probably is corrosion in the joint between the transom mount & Y pipe. Might have to replace both. A big job overall. How much do you want to keep that boat?

    Easy fix for voltage drop(?)

I had the 8 gauge left over from a project (installing roof rack lights on our '98 Jeep). My thought was that this problem probably existed due to undersized wiring so going bigger would address that. first pic is before I ran the supplemental feed (notice voltmeter reading, only 11.5V, second...

Rochester Automatic Choke "stuck".. is my priming procedure wrong?

Ok a couple of things: 1) when priming for a cold start you don’t shift to FWD then back to neutral. You disengage the shift control from the throttle by pulling out the handle toward you (OMC control) or pushing in the center button (Teleflex & others). open the throttle all the way that allows...

    Easy fix for voltage drop(?)

I had a couple of electrical problems with my Cobra: Charging voltage too high, was a known problem according to Arco marine, while the dash gauge didn’t indicate over charging a digital voltmeter on the batteries showed 15.5V. Their recommendation was to disconnect the sense wire at the alt &...

    After market fuel pumps

It's the same deal with the old style mechanical pumps, you can get the same exact Carter pump from places like Jeg's or Summit Racing for less than half what Merc, Volvo or OMC charged. All you need is the number off the old pump.

that explanation makes sense, it would be interesting to test both samples for water and see what comes up.
