    anodes

I would hope they are bronze, not brass. Bronze (copper (88%) and tin (10-12%) alloy) is fairly stable. Brass (zinc (34%) and copper (66%) alloy) is highly reactive and should never be used on a boat. Any thru hull below the water line should be bonded. Bonding thru hulls above the water line...

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

Depends on what you call "slamming". To me "slamming" happens when the boat has lost contact with the water and is "slamming" back down on the surface. Nothing you can do here but slow down. Hitting waves is typically called "Pounding". This is caused by the "flat" surface(s) of the hull...

    Need Some VRO Guidance Please!

One would think if the "OEM fuel pump" was a viable alternative or substitute for this particular motor, the part would be referenced as such in the parts listing. Would be earlier to rebuild the existing OMS and kept the convenience and functionality of the OMS system.

    1971 Evinrude motor

Purchase the OEM for your motor and run through the troubleshooting procedures for the various components. A heck of a lot cheaper than throwing parts at it

Bennet trim tab goes down, not up, regardless of up/down button

The actuators are spring loaded up. Up and down switch performs two functions. 1. They turn on the pump 2. They position the spool valve between the pressure (down) and suction (up) side of the pump. Your pump is working but something is wrong with the spool control part of the circuit. Can’t...

20 foot 1997 Maxum 2050 bowrider propeller question

It’s all about maximizing the efficiency of converting HP into thrust. What is lost to most people is that a prop’s dimension is just a number. Two props of the same dimension, but of different design, can have very different performance characteristics. If your really what to know how your...

20 foot 1997 Maxum 2050 bowrider propeller question

I run a fuel monitoring system. Water conditions (flat vs rough) has a bigger effect on fuel usage than anything else. Reduced my fuel consumption by 10% going from a 14.25 x 17, 4 blade to a 15 x 15, 3 blade

2013 150hp Evinrude etec vs 150 hp Yamaha

Your missing the part about adding $35 of oil to every 50 gallons of fuel Evinrude (BRP) is out of the outboard business. The motor no longer supported by the manufacturer

PSA, triple check your electrical connections anyways.

Step number 1- confirm you have the proper voltage at every touch point in the circuit while the circuit is under load.

Can someone review my boat wiring diagram?

Are your sure about the wiring of the bilge pump? Your diagram has it powered all the time what is up with the two accessory boxes? https://d2pyqm2yd3fw2i.cloudfront.net/files/resources/instructions/990170140.pdf

    Sanpan Pontoon Electrical Issue

Doesn’t act like a grounding issue. Ground wouldn’t activate circuits that are off. Guessing you have power feeding back through ground. Pull the fuse for the bilge pump and see if the problem goes away

    Breaker

Are the breakers in your home at the source (breaker box) or supply (wall socket)? Breakers trip on downstream faults. Without the fuse on the battery that wire could ground and burn w/o tripping the breaker. The breaker protects the wire from the breaker to the panel The head scratcher is the...

    Interpreting Hypervision Sonar Images

The sonar "beam" is sound. You can't see it. The yellow line is a software "feature". Educated guess...........the black blotches are where the computer for one reason or another is having issues interrupting the sonar returns or applying a software "feature" so the pixel(s) are blank. The...

    New Tahoe boats quality

Still rather small for a 21’ boat. Would expect to see 175 to 225HP on a well powered 21’ boat Then again, how is the boat being measured? Measured at the water line or overall length? Sitting side by side, my 22’ boat (22’-6”) is as long as most boats marketed as 24’ long.
