Evinrude 150 EXEOM Trim Tilt motor.

Replaced mine this Spring. SW use. Motor still worked but cover just about rusted through. Did a little digging and found the supplier of the OEM motor. Googled the supplier’s number and came up with DB Electric as an alternative. Fit, form and function replacement with carbon fiber cover. So...

94’ Johnson 150 Ocean Pro prop seal.

They almost always ingest water before starting to leak. Pull the drain plug in the LU and check for water. No water = Unburnt 2 stroke fuel

Should I buy this boat? 2000 Kenner 18ft Center Console

A 18’ boat is pretty small to be out front on all but the calmest days. No mention of motor in ad makes me suspicious. Personally, I would pass just because of the house keeping. The guy not making an effort to clean up the boat to sell it speaks volumes. ;)

    Which Boat to Buy?

400 hours is barely broken in. I personally know of several with over 2500 hours and still going strong

Charging deep cycle battery off engine?

You will have no problems unless a battery fails on you while combined. Just keep in mind that anytime you "combine" batteries you are physically combining the two and they will equalize their outputs. A 12.7 volt battery combined with a 11.2 volt battery makes for one large 11.95 volt (dead)...

    anodes

This is one of those situation where bonding will cause you more problem than not. The idea of bonding is to ground all dissimilar metals to a common, 0 volt potential to drain off potential voltage leaks from dissimilar metals in contact with other. The garboard plug as it sits is isolated...

    Crooked boat on trailer

The motor is about dead center so your rollerbunks are out of adjustment (note starboard strake sitting on roller) or the trailer is in too deep during loading, No need for “boards” on a properly setup roller trailer

Due to its high zinc content, brass should not be used on any boat. Better to avoid a known problem than install and hope for the best

    Best fuel consumption

Been running fuel monitoring for years. Installed one after hearing about how great they are for adjusting trim, correct rpm, planing speed…. etc. In reality not much help, if at all. Most changes in the above results in changes in the second decimal place. Unless your boating in a 1 acre...

    Perplexing electrical issue

This is only the motor. You need wiring for the boat proper You didn’t swap power and ground on the starter did you?

    Perplexing electrical issue

Makes sense up until the point where you try to tie the starter into it. Burning plastic, 40 yro wiring and a blown 50 amp fuse is a short to ground. Being DC power, a hot short to ground can back feed power into the circuit through the ground connection. Miraculously switched circuit that are...

    Boat Insurance Reference Point

Pretty low. My $25k agreed value policy is more than that I would read the “replacement cost” clause in depth. Boat insurance is typically “Hull or “agreed” value.
