    7K.-

The newer VP gas engines that I believe are still GM based go up to 5800 and 6000 rpm. https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/marine/products/aquamatic-sterndrive-gas/aquamatic-sterndrive-gasoline-engine-range/v6-tcc/#specifications...

Ford 302...21 foot fiberglass with cuddy

Personally i prefer 4 blades. My primary use is loaded down water sports. Typically you will see better holeshot, lower planing speed at the expense of a little top speed with a 4 vs a 3 blade.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive shaft seal?

The seal is in side the upper housing so you will not see it from the outside. I believe the vertical drive shaft normally moves up and down about 1/4” so looks ok to me

Ford 302...21 foot fiberglass with cuddy

So with 10 degrees initial plus the 24 centrifugal you should see 34 degrees total advance by 3500 rpm or so. You can check this on the muffs just briefly rev it. especially with an older mechanical advance distributor that can get hung up or corroded, you just want to verify you Are getting...

Anyone run Hartland tires from discount tire?

I purchased these Carlise tires in 2016 and have worked flawlessly, no signs of cracking or dry rot. Similar use limited towing, in winter they are inside in summer trailer is outside in the sun https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055BPQLC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

what size kicker should I get.

On a similar sized boat (but fiberglass so would have been heavier than AL) had a 9.5. This was for a fairly large lake ( 40 mi long) for lake trout trolling

3.0 volvo short or long block

Yes the 1990 and up 3.0 will work for your application, you will also need the manifold and check the power steering cooler as that is probably busted too. Likely you will find the block cracked just below the head when you pop the manifold off.

    Cracked Block Replacement

Back in they day ( ok a handful of years ago) they were $2K- more like $3600 now ... https://www.michiganmotorz.com/5-7l-vortec-marine-engine-1996-current

Bought a new long block and wondering about the coupling and gimbal bearing.

I agree with Lou definitely want to prop it so it can swing 5k. You have the same base engine used on MPI motors that I think the rev limiter is 5200, so no issue. In a heavy boat like that you are way better off being slightly under propped. Since you are swinging a 15" now you may actually...

    Cracked Block Replacement

Not sure a project is best for a first boat , or have you been around boats in your family ? FWIW NADA on that boat is about $12-14k . Not sure if the classic Bayliners of this era had wood floor and stringers or not. If they do definitely first things first make sure the structure is in good...

Hi all, newbie here sharing my fresh project

I think from the photos it looks like there was inadequate prep wok of the old surfaces to get a good bond, doesn't look like it was really ground down enough to make it adhere properly or had grease left on it.

alpha one gen 2 exhaust bellows

Yours may not have one but goes under bottom of gimbal housing where anode is by trim line block. https://www.bottomlinemarine.com/prod_cat/images/8m0148835_is.pdf this is about corrosion protection...

alpha one gen 2 exhaust bellows

It may have been a marina kept boat? That is a fair amount of corrosion for an alpha in fresh water. May want to see if the mercathode is working on it .

Engine Cutting Off Above 3,200 rpm

Assumed so. Two thoughts would be to remove or replace the anti siphon valve in fuel line, and maybe run with tank cap open to see if fuel tank vacuum is an issue. I'm assuming that the fuel pump replacement/Diaphragm work didn't make any change? Might be worth seeing if you are loosing power...

    Volvo 3.0L engine Block

Is there anything to look for ? Ideally you'd water test it. Obviously with handyman's specials you get what you get. Generally how clean is the boat and upholstery condition will tell you if some one took care of the boat and covered it. If you have to reupholster in addition to the engine...

    Truck cam with captain's choice?

the milkshake is a PITA to clean. The PO of my boat cracked the block and used it until milkshake came out of the valve covers and all over the bilge/engine compartment. I used Bon Ami and hot water on it... You may want to look at the lobe separation for that cam - I think it is 109 degrees...
