    Question about suitable battery type

The motor is charging the battery with an alternator, not a charger. To “top off” the AGM you must follow up with a battery charger designed for AGM use. I choose not to deal with that nonsense and run flooded acid batteries. My last pair of grp. 27 batteries lasted 10 years @ $125 each...

    Question about suitable battery type

The owners manual will give you the min. CCA requirements for the battery. From there it depends on how much room you have for a battery. Bigger is better but only to the point that you can keep the battery charged. I’ve had good luck using deep cycle RV batteries. They met the min. CCA...

    Electrical Issues - Help?

A change in blower speed would suggest a voltage drop. Put a meter on the supply to the fan to look for a voltage drop. If you don’t find a voltage drop, I’d be looking at the blower motor for worn brushes, bearings hanging up. Would affect everything wired that circuit. If nothing else...

    run a ground wire

Yes, you can do that but you will double the number of connections to go bad. Not to mention all the lights “downstream” of the fault will go dark. Run double wires or make a dedicated ground stud (SS) for each light. Went the double wire route this time. Probably revert back to dedicated...

New boat owner - not sure what battery to buy

Battery is crazy priced You only need one circuit breaker. The ground can be directly to the battery. I've successfully used these in a number of applications. https://www.ebay.com/itm/50-amp-12-24-Volt-Resettable-Inline-Circuit-Breaker-KIT-Boat-Trolling-Motor-/351929196238?_ul=IN Whether...

    2004 225 oil injector issue

The EMM is a "black box" computer. I believe #31 on the parts list is the oil pressure sensor Have you checked the operation of the oil sensor? Just become the SW doesn't clear the alarm properly doesn't mean that the sensor is not the probelm.

    Newbie prop/hub ?

The Flo-Toque 2 works, but the hub is hard plastic. Amplifiers prop chatter at low speeds. Used it for 1/2 season before switching to the Rubex. The Enertia is good performing prop for my setup. Offshore hull, #5k, 200 HP outboard. 30 mph@4300 rpm. 39.999 mph@5800. Your geared a lot lower...

    Newbie prop/hub ?

Heads up….. the prop chatter on my Enertia 15 x 15 was horrible with the flo-torque hub. The prop rang like a bell. Switched the Flo-Torque out for a Rubex rubber hub. The chatter is not completely gone, but tolerable Like the prop thou

To build a live well or not?

The salt imparts no flavor in the fish whatsoever. Its only used to lower the temp of the ice below freezing.

    Boat trailer lights partially working

My first step in troubleshooting would be to replace the 5 pin with a 7 pin connector. Adapters sux. Nothing but problems in the long run If the trailer is new to you, trailer wiring is not "standard" by any means. I've had to rewire half of the trailers I've owned to match the truck. Once...

To build a live well or not?

Fish will stay good in salt brine for at least a day and a half. For the best favor, fish should be killed, gutted if allowed by law, and immediately put in salt brine upon capture.

To build a live well or not?

I have a 80 qt. bait/live well. A 45 qt. built in cooler and a 190 qt. fish box. Of primary importance - built in beverage and food cooler. Beats the heck out of dealing with a cooler on deck Almost equally as important to me is the fish box. I'm a firm believer that any fish destined for...

    Screw and Pilot Hole Sizes

Might I introduce you to my wife's horse trailer that uses said Stainless "T" nuts to hold (turns out temporarily) the plywood panels to the aluminum shell. Lasts 5-6 years before fasteners start falling out and or the "brown death" starts oozing out from around the fastener holes. At this...

    Speaker switch?

Amplifiers are very finicky when it comes to loading and grounds. Tying two amplifiers together through a common ground is a no-no. How many ohms is the amp rated for? In series, two 4 ohm speakers becomes 8 ohms…In parallel, two 4 ohm speakers become 2 ohms Disconnect everything to see...

Floor live well. How to setup.

You can plumb for once through or recirculating. Not a fan of recirculating unless they drain directly overboard. Most just dump the drain into the bilge and pump it out from here. Who wants old nasty fish water or worst (dead critter) in their bilge? Mine is setup for once though with...
