Proper size thru Hull transducer for 1996 Sea Ray 210

Boy.....you got that right. Not sure I'd risk my boat on a piece of cheap plastic. The thru hull for my fish finder (95mm) is bronze

    Another surge question

I'll agree with you on the brakes, but my Tie Down actuator is still in good working condition after probably close to 15 years of service. Saltwater doesn't play well with cast iron master cylinders Beware....compared the pasts list between the Tiedown and Dextar actuators. Looks like Dextar...

    Prop pitch change

it’s doesn’t matter how fast you normally travel. You prop a boat to obtain the manufacturer’s rated WOT rpm. Guessing your WOT is around 5500-6000 rpm. Check your manual. Outboards are low displacement, high rev motors. They need rpm to generate power. Otherwise, your lugging (overloading)...

Proper size thru Hull transducer for 1996 Sea Ray 210

The old transducer doesn’t look like any “thru hull” transducer I’ve ever seen. Are you sure the old transducer isn’t a “shoot thru” glued to the hull?

    Another surge question

Dextar and Tie Down are one and the same. ;) I actually choose Tiedown over all others because they offered an aluminum master cylinder. Master cylinder is still great shape after 15 years of saltwater use Wouldn’t worry about the “lock out” bolt. It’s not carrying a load. I used a 1/4” pin...

    Prop pitch change

"Rule of Thumb" only applies when it does..... Prop Design, Cup, Porting, etc. all play into how a prop performs on a given hull. I've had props that swapped 1 for 1 and I've had props that required a change in pitch. Keep in mind that SS prop are typically "performance" props. Most are...

Losing Power - After two hours

Some pretty crazy baseless theories being thrown around. Extenuating circumstances: New boat owner Prior Maintenance unknown 23 year old boat Symptoms: “2 hours” to manifest Momentary loss of power Unregulated Surging Seems to resolve itself Findings so far: Fuel lines well past life...

First Time Boat owner needs advise

Boats are measured at the water line (displacement) although a good percentage of manufacturers advertise “overall length”.

Hull form versus engine power and torque In maintaining a boat on plain

Did you look at ported props? They where designed specifically to address your situation.

First Time Boat owner needs advise

The "DV" designates a specific hull design that would not affect the documentation in question. The repair manual would be specific to the motor, not the hull. Owner's manuals are typically generic, boiler plate type documents. https://cobaltboats.com/art/manuals/1984_owner_manual.pdf

    Boat lift options?

    That's "work".......motors are nowhere close to being 100% efficient. 3/4 HP, 1 phase AC Motor FLA is 13.8A at 120 VAC. You have two motors.... 27.6A x 120VAC - 3,312 Watts https://www.magnumlift.com/pilespac/Magnum%2010K.pdf

    90 Jonhson starter rebuild

The usual problem is not enough initial starting torque. Battery terminals clean? Battery cables good? Battery fully charged? Did you confirm nothing is binding after you reassembled? Did you check to make sure the commutator wasn't burnt or shorted? Mine was getting "slow". Tore it apart...

    Boat lift options?

Depending on what size lift your looking at a demand of at least 3.3 kW. That's a heck of load to power with a DC power source. Nothing overhead unless you have a boat house setup. Two overhead mounting beams are the perfect "rooster" which to defecate on the boat. Locally, Magnum and...

    Help identifying wiring on starter

Personally, I would not remove/change anything. Boat wiring tends to be a mess. Everything is done to save time and money. I want a good, clean feed to my electronics. I would disconnect existing wire from the fuse panel and run new wire back to your house battery.

    Ok 1 more oil question

Its not that simple….motor can be programmed to use 100:1 (synthetic) or 50:1 (conventional) oil. Which one is it programmed to use? A tank full of 50:1 would suggest it’s programmed to run 50:1 oil. You could of course use XD 100 with either setting but you would be spending twice as much...

Primer bulb to transfer gas into another tank.
