    Depending on which prop and pitch that's on it, how much load is in it and exactly which 5.7 ( carb or mpi is about 40-50 hp diff) would expect top speed to be in the 45-50 mph range

    If you want to find out what was there originally I would contact Wellcraft, they order the power packages and the set up determination. in the parts book for my Sea Ray it outlined all 4 engine options with outdrive ratios and riser configuration.

    Prop ventilation?

    Only other thing you may want to rule out is the prop hub slipping. I assume you have an older pressed in rubber hub, these eventually fail and need to be rehubbed.

    I converted a 65 gto to electronic ignition made an unbelievable difference on easy of starting and drivability would recommend it highly. As per previous post well maintained points are just as good as any ignition system electronic kits makes life easier

    Absolutely its sellable unless. It may be less saleable if it is a 3.7 or inline six or really ancient. If in good shape try CL list complete drivetrain but you have to take the boat ... or list it higher if they leave what they dont want....
