the vazer was still-born. it was a chev cavalier 2 liter turned on its side. the heat exchanger leaked horribly . only a few actually made it to market before the class-action lawsuit against mercrusier.
all this for a motor that was originally offered with an optional oil filter in 1955...... guys, you are over-thinking it on an SBC. any of the oils in the last 50+ years will work fine as long as the viscosity is over 5cSt at 100C
Clamp the one vicegrip between the center of the lock and outside sleeve, crushing the sleeve against the lock.
Use the other vicegrip to turn the first vicegrips.
Takes a few re-positions.
Helps to have about 20 different vicegrips.
Welding a nut is just easier
Look for a metripack connector. Doesn't look like any ALDL you would be familiar with as an auto mechanic
In fact, other than righty-tighty, left-loosy and SSBB and base engine hardware, there is very little commonality between your auto mechanic background and boats.
No, I am saying any of the oils. I buy Rotella T4 diesel for most boats with flat tappet cams, however also use it in many cars, trucks , etc. You can run any of the oils with your roller motor
You are over thinking it
You're overthinking it
Buy the 15w40, or 20w50. Rotella or Valvoline or Pennzoil or mobile 1 or other.
Dino squeezings or synthetic
Just run a good filter
And go boating
In the 80s, it was SAE30
In the 90s it was 10w-30 or 10w40
In the 00s it was 20w50
In the 10s it was synthetic
All...
guys, this thread is on the edge of being closed. lets keep it civil.
first thing on any new to you boat/motor/car/bike/plane/etc. is buy a factory service manual. Then read it, then if there are still questions, ask.
