    new engine overheats

According to merc they are different part numbers because of the difference in flows... simple enough to check just to rule it out. Now can it cause your issue? Not sure. But if you're bypassing too much water (higher flow bravo housing say) then I could see it.

    new engine overheats

Just out of curiosity... is that the thermostat housing from the old engine or is that what came with the new one? Is there a part number anywhere? Does it say alpha on it anywhere? I can't tell from the photos is why I ask. They are different and its simple to rule out.

How much slip does your prop have ?

Unless its excessive slip, it really doesn't matter in the way people think it would... You can have a 23p with 25% slip that'll run near a 19p with single digits and have the same speed at any given RPM. I've tested props that behave that way and the only thing I've noticed is that they tend to...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

Same 3.6 more or less. Job only takes an hour, not too bad. I've had... well much much worse. Obviously different in a rwd vehicle. There's good access

    Time to replace tires?

My fun tire story is a few years ago we came back from the lake. (150 mile drive.) I back in the driveway, wash the boat etc. My post trip inspection revealed that sometime between leaving that morning and coming home, about half the tread of both tires completely delaminated... mind you they...

    cooking

Listen, I am a man of science. I have no problem with the temp probes, meters etc. It's just in day to day life, cooking is one of the few things I still get to run by feel. It's a fun change of pace (for me anyway). I have all the tech (everyone buys it for me) but outside of say a prime rib...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

So today I'm addressing a few nagging things. I had old through transom screws that I drilled out and backfilled with marine-tex before installing the transom wood. Fast forward to after it was in the water for two months and that marine tex had bubbled out. It was now softened and felt like...

I'm not either. But I've done it enough where it just gets that feel about it. Honestly, it's pretty hard to mess something up on a smoker. Worst case you say you made jerkey. ;)

    Forums are very slow…

The only time its been slow for me is when I'm on the network at work. I'll get random gateway errors, time outs, etc. Immediately switch to 5g and it's fine. With all the firewalls and security at work that doesn’t surprise me though....

    Spring replacement?

Eye to eye is correct. 24" is a relatively odd size... it could be a flattened 23-xx" which would be more common if memory serves. Most any trailer supply will have something. So long as the guy behind the counter/on the phone is competent, they should be able to guide you in the right...

    Stuck again

I flip the tool around and use a good 12 point on the splined side... dad's are from when he went to merch school and are real merc parts... Always did it that way, only a handful of thousands that didn't come apart.

Help me set up my new edelbrock 1409

With thunderbolt V you could get away without it being in gear... it does have a good base idle compensation and it is how I set mine once. No drop in or rise out of gear. But I'd do it right. My service manual 18 has it in gear for both thunderbolt IV and V.
