    1990 mercruiser 4.3 no spark

Make sure the spark is happening at TDC of the compression stroke (with the valves closed). If you had the distributor out to replace the sensor, it can go back 360* out of time.

    Ocean pro 150 head reseal.

I think you want to circle each water passage, not group them.

    1979 80HP Mercury kill Switch

The trim limit switch was set to keep the motor from "trimming" out of the transom bracket. On the original control, push and hold the center button for trim. If you wanted to trailer the boat, you push the top and middle button together to bypass the trim limit switch and allow the motor to...

    1979 80HP Mercury kill Switch

Originally your PTT unit had a trim limit switch. It was on the starboard PTT bracket, and it plugged into the main harness under the splashwell. I think the wires were purple. The trim limit switches broke all the time, and the workaround was to unplug the limit switch and jumper the two...

    Don't tape holes.

Gee, one would think tape is preferable to sinking, no? Gee, use some acetone to get it off.

Mercury 35hp 2 stroke Lower Unit Stripped

Gee, the trim tab is soft zinc, right. Drill some holes in it and using a chistle, crack it off the bolt, piece by piece. Now replace the bolt and the trim tab. A lot of those old motors had a hex head bolt, that required a thin wall socket to remove. An allen head bolts works well also.

    1979 80HP Mercury kill Switch

OK, if the motor is a 1979, it will have 4 coils and 1 switchbox. The ign kill switch will ground the orange (or salmon)-colored wire, to kill the spark. The orange (or salmon) colored wire will be avail on the switchbox at the engine, and avail inside the control.

    Ocean pro 150 head reseal.

From the OEM service manual from my '98 Johnny 150HPV6, page 4-19: The Orings are greased with triple guard grease and installed in the block. a 1/16" bead of silicone is put around each water passage. In your case, you need to remove all the old silicone, as well.

Modifying propeller hub for new rubber hub

I would recommend that when you test said prop, you have a good spare prop and the tools to change it over. Those kinds of hubs can fail at any moment, or not at all, and there is no on-the-water repair. The other recommendation is to make sure the prop housing cannot fall off into the water...

    Starter grounding issue

Gee, if in doubt, add a short battery cable from starter to frame. Mercury always mounts their starters in rubber, and therefore always have to have a cable from starter to frame.

Modifying propeller hub for new rubber hub

You could take it to a prop shop. They will install any hub you like.

1994 evinrude 140hp v4 cutting out at wot

Could be fuel supply. Does the primer bulb go flat? You could run it on a portable tank and see if that helps.

Removing saltwater seized piston on Mariner 5hp

Stick a brass drift thru the spark plug hole and give it a rap with a 4 pound hammer.

    2001 9.9 2-stroke - water in gear oil

Mark has suggested a possible leak around the propshaft. Pulling the bearing carrier is an ugly job. It might also signal a bad propshaft bearing. I would recommend the pressure test and see what is leaking.

    Wellcraft transom reinforcement

Gee That was not my experience. The only drawback that I see with PT lumber is that it is southern yellow pine (SYP), which is not real strong. So if you need PT lumber, engineer it properly, buy reputable lumber and make it happen. Alternatively, when I did an extension on my roof, the code...

Creating a twin inboard 17ft boat

A 17 footer doesn't usually benefit greatly from the maneuvering of twins. You would have to replace the transom to allow two OD cutouts, IMO. Gee how about replacing your engine with a 4.3L V6 or even an SBC? The cutout is the same, but the motor mounts are a bit different, but comparing to...

    2001 9.9 2-stroke - water in gear oil

Do you have a gear lube pump? If so, you can easily make a pressure tester. If not, you need a gear lube pump, as it makes changing the gear lube much easier. To make the pressure tester, pull the hose off the gear lube pump, and attach it to a bicycle pump, or any other pump you have. You...

    Wellcraft transom reinforcement

Gee Matt, find better PT wood. I just bought 76 16 foot 5/4X6's for my deck. They were a lot straighter than I expected and nearly knot free.

    Wellcraft transom reinforcement

A lot of core in boats is balsa wood. When water contacts it for a while, even a short while, it turns to mush. Raw plywood will outlast it easily.
