Winterizing, use E-0 stabilized gas or install shut off valve and run carb out of fuel?

I use some form of fuel treatment all summer and good inline filters, at season end just run the carbs dry on muffs. Any fuel that might be left has been treated so no concern. Fuel tank is plastic so no worry about rust. I do suck out the remaining fuel and use it elsewhere so next season...

    Pontoon trailer bunks…

I used carriage bolts ( the rounded heads) with a pair of jam nuts on the back side. Once covered in carpet, no worry about scratches, and jam nuts are on the back side. Do not cover the back side of bunk with carpet, as this will help the bunk board dry out better and add some to the life...

    Identifying a boat

    Towing friends boat damage

Back when I worked at a marine dealer, I often towed trailers that were not mine. I carried a couple lengths of chain and quick connects along with a pigtail extension just in case. Used them often as there is no standard for lengths of chains or pigtails. However, if a coupler needs adjusted...

1978 Johnson 140hp running rough. Need advice

Only if ignition timing has been altered.....higher octane fuel is for advanced timing and high compression engines. When high octane fuel is used in low compression engines or those with retarded timing, it can cause a extra heat buildup while it produces less power.

1978 Johnson 140hp running rough. Need advice

Unless the engine compression and timing is set up for premium fuel, the use of this fuel will actually produce less horse power ! Talk with any gasoline engineer, much has been written and tested on this subject.

How can I make my Tracker 40 HP faster?

Go thru your motor and get everything repaired and adjusted properly...tuneup, replace impeller, set timming, rebuild carbs with factory rebuild kits. Once the motor is running properly with the correct prop, you will see more speed !
