    2bl vs 4bl

Right up to the top speed of the 2 barrel , when you go past that point with the 4 barrel you will burn more fuel . That's the fun part for many, (mostly) new to boating.

    Freshwater pump location

Highly unlikely that someone on here has the exact model boat as yours , so your going to have to do some exploring. You can have someone turn the off on switch and pinpoint it . Might have to turn a faucet on with pump turned off. Almost close the faucet and turn pump on ,it will run longer...

    Buying first Cruiser need advice!

If and when you run across a boat that you want to buy , strike the deal based on it passing a survey and water test ride , probably have to put a deposit down , make that refundable if it fails survey. Many insurance companies require a survey and you want a pro looking it over. I am not a fan...

Question on exposed hole after taking screw out

Uhhh , the boat is in the water , pretty sure that's why he mentioned scuba gear. The only way to do it properly without compromising your transom is to pull the boat . IF it has to be taken out with a lift , you pay for that service , 2-300 or pay a lot more if you do it in the water , as now...

    mercrusier 5.0 MPI heating

Would help to have a flow chart and is it a closed cooling system or open ? As in it uses anti-freeze or it does not. You could have clogged risers , exhaust manifold , blockage in elbows , thermostat stuck shut or who knows what with the info given.

    Going electric vs marinas

With my limited math expertise I calculate that you have 14 miles of paddling to get back to your dock.

    Installing skeg on Aquasport Inboard

I would think as long as the two equal the same or greater surface area it would be close depending on the skegs extending the same distance down into the water. " Shallow " skegs are not going to offer the same lateral resistance I would guess. Didn't look it up and not a thermo mass nuclear...

    Going electric vs marinas

Got me ! Now , my point was 2 E engines / drag /amp hours used with a full load on the 2 E engines vs maybe 25% load on a single E-engine semi rolling on cement and the run time of the batteries on land vs water. My cost comparison may be way off based on our city buying 10 E busses @ 1 million...

    Going electric vs marinas

Don't think we will see many electric boats in our lifetime . If the price of E cars is through the roof and I just read in the paper that when the Gov took away the tax/rebate the sales plummeted. E cars are by and large subsided by the Gov [ will they do that with boats ? ] So your 25' boat...

    Question on Anchor pulpit

Short of buying a anchor with a shorter " shank " , [ not sure what the correct terminology is ], you can either have a hole drilled in it so the safety line is pulling it tight and it is still attached to the main line at the end of the shank. The distance in the gap underneath the pulpit...

Ports through hull on 1991 Sea Nymph?

Black one up high is the gas vent for a built in tank. Lower two , you'll will have to follow the hoses, one is probably a discharge for the livewell and the other a intake for the livewell pump. Without being there and dumping water into the livewell to see where it comes out I guess your on...

    Washdown

Boat has to be in water , intake should be on the bottom of boat. You should have a separate fresh water holding tank for your wash down, usually located below deck . The pump will run until pressure is built , then it will stop. If you have the fresh water valve open and there is no water in...

    Washdown

Start at the bottom , you should have a through hull fitting with a hose on the end of it that goes to the raw water pump. Make sure the valve on the fitting is open. You should have a switch , usually on the dash that turns that pump on. Once that pump is on and builds pressure it works on...

    **** *** shops oil?

Just like there are 4-5 companies that make batteries the same holds true with oil. Mercruiser has someone slap there name on the containers and then mark it up like it's something special. As long as you change it at the recommended intervals your good to go with off the shelf oil.

    Jet boat comparison

Is there a reason your locked onto Jet Drives ? They are the worst for pulling skiers and wake boarders. That propulsion system has the most slip of any type of drive on a boat. Right now there is probably little room for negotiating a price on a new boat. It's a sellers market , used or new...

Where is the thermostat located for 1973 evinrude 135

Most of the older 2 stroke outboards did not have thermostats , my money is on your motor falling into that category.

    Docking (slip) advice

That slip is to shallow to back your boat in. You can clearly see the trailer in the water . A few reasons why many boats back into there slips. The first is the finger piers are shorter than the boat , so if you went in bow first your climbing on the bow to get into it. It's easier and closer...
