    Look at the sticker in the top of this forum by FrankA to set the timing and throttle pick up point. There is also a You tube video by FrankA how to do it. I think your setting of the idle and the throttle pick up point is out of adjustment.

    If the starter continued to turn after the bendix disengage the flywheel there is an issue with the starter solenoid. The starter gets power from the solenoid.

    Take the block to a workshop that can machine it. Measure the bore and rebore it, I think you are able to rebore to 040 oversize. No need to put a new sleeve in if you can rebore.

    The 1989 125Hp should have Prestolite CD ignition system. Four blue or black ignition coils and two blue or black CD boxes. What ignition system has the 150Hp? Does it have the Prestolite system or the Mercury Thunderbolt system. If they have different system to each other, the wiring is different.

    Okey, that is a 1995 with Mercury style LU. The different between the Chrysler and the Mercury style shifting is that the Chrysler style shifting by pushing/pulling the shift rod up and down. The Mercury style is shifting by turning the shift rod back and forth.

    As jimmbo says, check for good spark and compression then cleaning the carbs. Check the fuel pump diaphragm, set the float level and adjust the air/fuel mixture screw.

    We need to know the model number or a pic to help you. They started to change the LU from Chrysler style to Mercury style in mid 90:es. If it has the Chrysler style, yes there could be an adjustment issue. I have not worked with the Mercury style, so maybe some other will chime in.

    Force 125hp not wanting to idle

    Sounds like it has a lean setting of the air/fuel mixture screw at the carbs. I think the OEM manual says 1 turn out from seated, try to turn the mixture screws 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 of a turn out from seated. Maybe you have to adjust the idle screw too. It should idle 1200 RPM at muffs and 7-800 RPM...
