mercruser 888 wont rev past 2000 when in gear in the water

Those are big block ratios. You need a lot more motor to spin that ratio

    Designs in or over gelcoat?

I figured you were talking the cap. Still going to take a weekend plus. For a metal flake hull, that is a weekend alone up to the rub rail

Where is the idle mix adjustment on this carb on a 5.7 350 with Thunderbolt IV?

Holy dirty spark arrestor batman. that alone should be the first order of business.

    Designs in or over gelcoat?

first, I highly recommend the Duratec 904 additive over using straight gel and gel with wax as it lays down a lot closer to paint than coming out like manure thru a spreader. Gel doesnt like to come out nice without the 904 additive, no mater how you mix it. even then consider sanding often...

Wooden Mounting Base with Casters for Mercruiser 4.3L 1992 Engine

I used a shipping crate and some bits of 2x4. you can see it in this video. its sitting on the legs of the engine hoist which made it easy to lift the whole thing into the back of the truck i have also ran boat motors sitting on an old tire on the ground. you can also run them hanging from...

mercruser 888 wont rev past 2000 when in gear in the water

the two SBF firing orders are basically like an SBC/BBC 4/7 cylinder swap. it evens exhaust pulses, bearing loading and fuel distribution and smooths idle a bit. its good for about 5-10hp not enough to stress about unless trying to eek out every last bit of performance however that is the...

1971 Glastron GT160 Rear Drain Hole Question

regardless of the motor on the boat, that transom started rotting about a month after the boat first came out. the encapsulation around the lower drain hole is abysmal. regardless if the splashwell drain was there or not. Im with Bondo, a good TOP on that boat (with a good...

    1994 Mercrusier 4.3l engine compatability

Im of the mindset, the block froze, why take a chance killing the next block with potentially freeze cracked manifolds. you could also put a 5.0/5.7 block in there, run the same accessories you have. you need a new intake and exhaust manifolds anyway.

1971 Glastron GT160 Rear Drain Hole Question

Welcome aboard As an engineer and a realist, the aluminum plate is a bandaid applied over a broken back/legs/etc of the boats skeleton. it may offer a bit of comfort, however it wont keep the motor and transom attached to the boat unless there is also aluminum plates sistering the stringers...

    Crack in the Jon

i would get it welded. if you dont want to do that, you need to rivet a patch panel over the crack and basically add some structure around it. the JB weld wont do anything in this situation but make your wallet lighter.
