    Making engine beds

Would agree it would be tight might have to cut some glass to access it. Would do a remote oil filter set up and the seats/compartments on the side - what is in there ? when you open can you cut a hand hole in the side for access to drain plugs and spark plugs My grandfathers boat has similar...

I suspect the same stuff that was in your fuel tank got into the old carb. with inflation the value of a well used 3.7 has never been higher …

Hello all, I want to install a remote oil filter mount for my 4.3 V6, is it neccessary to replace the filter mount bypass valve?

this is up in the oil filter adapter on my 5.0 https://www.michiganmotorz.com/oil-filter-adapter-sbc-bbc i believe that is the relief valve.… not sure i understand the desire to remove it. Yes maybe a higher pressure relief is more desirable, but yours with some maintenance has held up well...

Hello all, I want to install a remote oil filter mount for my 4.3 V6, is it neccessary to replace the filter mount bypass valve?

If I recall there is an allen head holding it in the oil filter housing , so it would be upside down when engine is installed. Take the filter off and use a mirror...

    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

What 3 blade 21" prop is on there now? I had a big diff in top speed switching between a Vensura and Revolution 4 - both 4 blade 21" The Rev 4 has so much better bite that I could fully trim up and gain 3-4 more mph top speed. Downside was that hole shot was better with the Vensura as the...

    Power Trim Control Panel

Like like a standard merc shifter Normally the up button has two detents, first one is trim up to the limit...push it in deeper to second detent for trailer up ...if the trim limit switch is broken only the trailer up will work as trim will think its at the limit already ... What year is the...

    Engine swop ? about Timing

If you are happy with it leave it alone, especially if it is coming out In a couple months Less timing has less detonation potential. You changed the whole engine so might have been loss of compression valve sealing etc or prob with old ignition

    Engine swop ? about Timing

When ever you are mixing and matching parts, you have to work through somethings…. You want enough advance to produce power without causing detonation…would think start with a total advance around 24, see how it runs then advance it 2 or so degrees at a time. watch for detonation And wouldn’t...

    Engine swop ? about Timing

you may want to read this thread - guy went to a delco est and had lower total advance and was down on power. Seems the older piston and head combo may need more advance than the delco est has- I think is limited to about 24 total...

    alpha 1 gen 2, 3.0 outdrive on 4.3

If you look in sea rays owners resources you will find the following info - for prop chart https://owners-resources.searayweb.com/propeller-charts-files/2006%20Sport%20Boat%20Sport%20Cruiser%20Prop%20Chart.pdf If yours is 190 hp carb vs the 220 hp mpi - and came with a 1.81 with a 23" prop, so...

Can you change from welded to bolted?

Didn't catch that thanks. Depending on use yeah prob wouldn't fix it either.

Can you change from welded to bolted?

What is the age of the trailer - is it aluminum or galvanized? what's the condition of tires brakes wheel bearings etc - what else do you have to repair? How much are the cross members? Would figure $100-125 each. While you could bolt them up I cant imagine it costing much to have them welded...

    alpha 1 gen 2, 3.0 outdrive on 4.3

What size boat is it in? If, if the boat had acceptable performance with say a 17" or 19" prop, then you could step up to a 19" or 21" and it would probably work just fine. If it is a smaller boat, like two of my neighbors have (tahoe Q5) w a 4.3 and a 1.81 drive that needs a 23" to keep rpms...

    Engine swop ? about Timing

I would match the intial (in base mode) and total timing of what it should have been on the 88 engine. Thinking match the timing curve for the head you are using. Of course when you mix and match components some trial and error may be needed…it is normal when you take it out of base mode that it...

Are the bullet connectors male and female ? I think the oem ones are so they cant be mixed up. This is shown in this photo of an oem sensor https://www.michiganmotorz.com/thunderbolt-ignition-sensor-kit-v6-v8 if you are not in a rush i would return it and get an oem sensor

    Ford 302 pinging

the difference between 8 and 10 intital timing wont be that significant, would suspect that is a red herring and something else is going on. Given what you saw in the fuel tank would think poping top on carb would be in the nest step
