    Ayuh,..... Never dealt with one, with an o-ring like that,..... Do know that the most common failure is binding/ corrosion, from a lack of grease though,...... I might try bevelin' the edge of the cable end slightly, to help spread the ring out to where it's gotta be,.....

    Ayuh,.... I'm sayin', it appears yer wirin' needs to be sorted out, as the gauge lights should be powered by a light switch, not the key switch, in any position,..... If yer getting an alarm, I'm guessing the ignition is getting power, as it should,..... Once started, the motor has oil...

    Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... Carbed motors don't do that,..... The fuel pump should only be powered when crankin' the motor on the starter, 'n when there's oil pressure,....

    Ayuh,..... Jumper cables from a battery to ground, 'n to the starter's battery lug, then a jumper wire to the coil's (+) terminal,.....

    Ayuh,..... The sender needs a solid ground, so I'd start at the battery ground lug, 'n work yer way to the sender, Cleaning to shiny metal Clean, All of the connections,...... I doubt the original sealant on the sender is the problem,.... I use sealant paste on senders,......
