    Smelly 2-Stroke

Water temps have a huge affect on the amount of smoke. My motor smokes all day once water temps drop into the 40’s F. Simply not enough heat at low rpm (900-1000) to keep motor at operating temp. Watch pressure gauge play ping pong all day as the stats open and close trying to regulate...

    Smelly 2-Stroke

Assuming your engine is in tip top shape and in tune, I find semi-synthetic to perform best for me. Don’t be impatient… it will take several tanks of fuel to clean out residual oil from the motor Alway “drive” into the wind oil smokes when burnt That you only real solution if you want to...

Prop diameter and pitch stamp incorrect

Digging into this a bit, the SMC 345 (item # 082030) is advertised as a 15 x 17 prop. Coincidence your 1820 matches 3 of the item numbers in sequence?

Looking for reefs with Raymarine Element

Base charts are useless….I highly doubt your reefs are marked What are you expecting the chart to do for you? Even if the locations are marked, the unit still requires input from you to get to the location. Easier to plug in the coordinates and save as a Way Point for future use. You have...

    End of Season Maintenance

No reason to change the LU unit oil with such little use if no water is present. After the motor has sat a day or two, crack the drain screw to get a sample. If you don’t get any water or milky oil your good to go until next season

    End of Season Maintenance

I wouldn’t skip changing the engine oil but there is no reason you can’t skip changing LU if no water is present.

    Battery low alarm

My electronics low voltage alarm has always been my signal to start battery shopping, but try this first…. Make sure battery is fully charged and both battery terminals are clean and try it again. If you still get the warning, the battery is compromised and on the way out.

    Outboard Trolling Motor Mounting

Four stroke motors are very well suited for low rpm operation. They are most efficient at idle and happy doing so all day, every day. I can understand wanting to keep hours off your primary but in reality, salt kills by exposure not run time. As such, there is no such thing as a “low hour”...

    Spindle

The marks will not be detrimental to performance I would say the bearing retaining washer was flopping around from loose nut, bad bearing or a combination of the two. Run it…..
