    I hate winter

I gave up my Guide license 10 years ago but still pretty active on the tournament circuit. After 40 years of chasing them commercially, recreational and competitively, I can say they ain’t that hard to catch ;) I’m the opposite….. let the little ones grow up and harvest them as Trophies...

    I hate winter

No strippers or linesides around here. Chesapeake Bay, Mid Atlantic. Either Stripers, Rockfish or “Beasts from the East” when the big “migrants” are around. Interesting…..Chesapeake Bay is the spawning grounds and nursery for 75% of the East Coast population. The fish hatch and spend 3-4...

Dual Battery ... Wiring fail or I just don't understand?

I top off my batteries (110 Ah deep cycle x 2) and leave them in the boat when I put the boat way in December. Typically don't charge them again until the end of March. Been doing this forever. The set of batteries I replaced last Spring as PM had 2010 and 2011 date codes on them. I get more...

Yamaha 2012 four stroke 115hp fuel prime while sitting for a couple weeks and won’t start…

The primer bulb is not designed to hold pressure long term. It’s there simply as a means to get fuel to the fuel pump on “cold” start. The primer bulb is a simple hand pump with a simple (plastic) back flow preventer when held in the upright vertical position. Off vertical, the primer bulb...

do vintage Johnson red gas tank contain lead paint ?

If anything it would be coated with a Terne coating. A mixture of lead and tin used back in the day to prevent automobile fuel tanks from rusting.

Yamaha F100 TLRY - 2 lower units but only one shaft fits?

Looking at the parts breakdowns…. I’m seeing different part numbers for the 75 and 100 and the 100 has lists two different part numbers for the shaft. Don’t know the differences but your dealing with three possible part numbers

Dual Battery ... Wiring fail or I just don't understand?

Using a battery maintainer as a “bulk” charger after use results in degraded performance and shorten life expectancy, especially for a starting battery designed to be discharged and immediately replenished. Manufactures recommend charging lead-acid batteries at a rate between 10% to 25% of the...

    Trailer wiring…how to improve grounding…

I simply drill and tap the frame and install stainless grounding lugs as required. The tapped connections ensures continuity to the frame.

    excessive corrosion?

If you swapped leads it would be + 320mV ;) It looks like you found your problem. Now all you have to do is find where the 320 mV is coming from. I suspect something is improperly grounded. Anything wired directly to the motor? Why is that? The idea of the exercise to eliminate stray...

    excessive corrosion?

That you know of at the moment. Where does that bonding wire shown in the picture terminate? First, check for continuity between all three of anodes to make sure they’re functioning as one to dissipate any current presented. Ideally, you would want to run the following tests while the...

    Ritchie compass model 15

What is wrong with it? My Explorer series leaked all the fluid out over the winter several years back. Shopped around and found a repair kit on the website below but decided to investigate my problem prior to ordering the kit. Turned out to be just the orings. Saved some money and ordered the...

    Automotive Ground Straps

Ground loops probably account for 90% of all “noise” related problems reported in autos, boats and RV are a potential cause. If one component on the loop is noisy and the return current flows through shared ground connectors, this noisy component is then the source for an introduction of noise...

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

What you’re missing is that a 12V flooded, lead acid battery is technically “dead” at 12.0 volts. At 10.5 V your down to 1.75V per cell and at risk of permanently damaging the battery. Some good information here on Depth of Discharge and battery longevity...
