Oil change interval, synthetic or no, curious what we all do

Several of my vehicles have gotten over 300,000, and still don't burn oil, and that was by waiting for the OLM to announce it was time to change it.

    1984 J90 HP .060" over. Why not?

Since your Mind is made up about going with a 0.060" overbore, I won't waste any time regarding the reality of what will likely happen. Better you learn first hand... Good luck BTW, even a 0.040" Overbore is not considered Practical

How do you guys mix Gas

I had one of the LiPo Batteries for my Camera go Nuclear. I was on a Flight where someone else's Camera started to smoke. Good thing it wasn't in their Checked Luggage, and the Cabin Fire Extinguishers can put these out. They are tiny Bombs ticking away, I'm sure there will be plenty of Roadway...

72 evinrude 65hp hydroelectric won't state in gear

What about shifting out of gear? It was speced for Type C which is less Viscous. And yes. I know that Type C was the only Oil Marketed by OMC during the years of the Hydroelectric Gearcases

    1972 Cathedral Trihull Prop Size

Some people just think cause it 'looks' the same, that it is the same. The 1.65 would have been fine on a 5 liter.

78 Johnson 115hp Crossflow Stalls When Put into Gear!?!

One thing to keep in mind, the Carbs are supposed to be fully closed at Idle, they are not adjusted for idle speed. Idle Speed is set entirely by Spark Timing, and there is NO spec for that, as it will vary depending on what prop is installed as it is adjusted/set while in gear. Different...

78 Johnson 115hp Crossflow Stalls When Put into Gear!?!

Regarding the Throttle Cable. Adjust it so it puts a bit of Load on the linkage to hold it against the Idle Stop as it sits in Neutral. Too much Preload will make shifting in and out of gear a pain. Then verify that the Throttle Plates are opening fully. However since you were mucking with the...

How do you guys mix Gas

When it came the V4 Crossflows and the Inline 6s, I give Mercury the nod. They were smoother, and gave better fuel Economy than the OMCs. My inline 115 had better Acceleration, higher top speed, and did so on less fuel, than the 140 OMC crossflow did on the same boat. That otta start a war

How do you guys mix Gas

The early(1974 - mid 80s)OMC 9.9s were about 12hp compared to the 11hp of Mercs 9.8. Good little engines, much stronger Gear Train than Mercs

    1978 Evinrude 140 V4 Only firing on 2 cylinders

In 1979 the 85 did become a 99.6 in engine, and a 100hp appeared. In 1981, the 85hp and the 100hp were dropped and the 90 appeared

    1978 Evinrude 140 V4 Only firing on 2 cylinders

Different jetting, some years not all, used larger Carbs, Crankcase Stuffers, different Heads, and Exhaust Tuning. You can turn a pre 85 115hp(1979 -1984), into a 140hp, by changing/adding those parts. In fact a 1979 thru 1984 90 hp can be converted to a 115 by some Machining of the Block, and...
