    Question about battery post connections

No reason why not.....but why are you stripping them? Are you using ny-loc nuts as recommended? Doesn't take much torque at all to tighten

    Flush mount plotter on Sylvan

I was going to flush mount my chart plotter but wasn’t thrilled that I couldn’t remove it when leaving the boat unattended. Ended up yoke mounting it in the “glove box” with a lockable smoke glass door to keep honest people honest. Out of site, out of mind.

Need prop help with new boat

New to you boat? Something is wrong. What you describe is the typical classic symptoms of a under propped boat. Since that is the factory recommended prop size. One can only assume that the prop is damaged, worn out or has cavitation or venting issues for one reason or another

    Boat Ramp Etiquette

Where I boat, you’re not going to find any smoking hot wives, or girl friends for that matter, wearing bikinis at the boat ramp. They’re all at the pool bar at the yacht club….lol

    What is this port?

That is a scupper valve. Never seen them used in critical applications. Normally used on splash well and cockpit drains. As noted above, a closer inspection is warranted

    Cannot Get Dust Cap On!!!

At this point I’ve removed and installed 100 or so caps (4 x25 yrs) on my tandem trailer and have only bent 2-3 and lost two. The caps are “interference” fits that take some finesse, to install. If you find yourself smashing the ***** out of them your doing something wrong or the part is out...

Disconnecting the fuel line, let engine burn gas ?

Years back, I removed the quick disconnect at the motor and let the motor run out of gas while I ran to get the truck. Current motor is hard plumbed to the carburetor. Simply not feasible to remove and let run out of gas after each outing. Concerned at first, but here we are 20 years...

Do your electronics blink off when you start your motor?

Instrumentation “blinks” during starting because current demand exceeds battery capacity, resulting in a voltage drop below the lower limit of the instrumentation with the starter is engaged. Possible causes: 1. Weak or under sized battery 2. Compromised (corrosion) cables and or wiring to...

Garmin Striker Plus 7SV Transducer Disconnected Error

Never ever assume the wire colors match up. Transducer: Pin 2 (wht) is the temp sensor. Pin 6 (brn) is power Pin 1 (braid) is shield As noted above. Connect sensor blue to pin 2 (wht) Connect sensor black to pin 6 (brn) No need to terminate the sensor shield to pin 1 unless needed, which is...

    Distorted Fish Shape On Fishfinder?

The “white arcs” are not actually fish. They are meaning less software generated graphics. Same targets…”sepia” on left, CHIRP” on right….. photo verse MRI Colors note density of target. With experience can determine species by location, shape and color of returns. Had me for a minute...

Anti Siphon Valve on Fuel Tank Pickup?

Took the anti-siphon off mine and threw it away 15 years ago. Anti-Siphon valves……brought to you by the same people who think mounting an internal combustion motor(s) and tank(s) of highly flammable fuel in the same confined space is a good idea..then throw the batteries in the same space for...

    Boat Ramp Etiquette

I avoid weekends and holidays like the plague. Too many people, too many that don't have a clue and or any sense of urgency to get loaded and out of the way for others. All the local ramps have docks. Local protocol (if busy) is to drop off the driver then head out of the area to prepare the...

Two batteries for small fising boat

To get an intelligent answer you need to know the current draw of the trolling motor, duration of use between charges and the charging rate of the outboard. Couple of things to understand going forward. 1. Outboards put out very little current, if any while idling. 2. Solar “Maintainers” are...
