    Factory holes in stringers?

Looks very similar to holes in my sea ray stringers and floor Through which they filled the void with foam. They have a plastic cap covering them which doesnt always stay in place over time. There are 10-12 visible between engine compartment, ski locker, and storage compartments on either side...

Mercruiser 4.3 Vortec running hot on one side

temp diff between manifolds is not uncommon, they should be hot to touch, but not so hot you cant put your hand on them for a second 180 or so. if one manifold is higher than other will create more flow one way or other. does your system feed the elbow as well as the manifold ? If so thee are...

Question about an alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive

unfortunately, you may have the wrong hobby then… they are a little more pricey but several sellers on eBay list ones that have passed pressure test and come with a short warranty. more money than craigslist etc but at Least you have some recourse if condition is misrepresented

1996 penta 5.0 fl. replace freeze plug.

Why not just leave the rubber expansion plug in there ? I had a freeze plug leak on a fresh rebuild on my 65 Pontiac 389, was a freeze plug behind the flywheel looks like it had a casting ridge in the hole. Its been in there over 25 years now hasnt leaked .

Want to verify that I have the right prop (Mercruiser MC-1)

Yes gear ratio is like 1.98:1 for the 120-140 hp drive. Likely your 165 hp came with a 1.84 or so If that is the case and the boat was properly propped before you will likely need to go up in pitch 2”. For example I swapped out a 4.3 for a 5.0 which would have come with different ratio drives...

Question about an alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive

Normally you will have to disassemble the lower to get all the metal out. If you have someone who has the tools and skills it probably wouldn't be that much (in comparison to buying a new one) to disassemble and reseal the lower, only issue is if there is damage from metal pieces then it may be...

Mercruiser 4.3 Vortec Backfire and no start

Same here still have it… still works. Did upgrade to a Digital tach/ignition analyzer. Can see how many kV the ignition is putting out. Very helpfull if you get a baseline on your engines when they are running good.

Thinking of buying a Maxum 2400 SCR. Thoughts?

I've owned two Sea Rays and I would freely admit that, especially the smaller Sea Rays. The two I have had are a 1991 Sea Ray 170 (had it for 20 years) , and currently a 2004 Sea Ray 200 Sport. There was more of a difference especially on the interior finish level on the '91. The 2004 not much...

    Mercruiser 4.3 carb weep

An item i recently found is a copper flare washer like these https://pontiactripower.com/products/copper-flare-gasket-for-3-8-fuel-lines?_pos=1&_sid=a7eb5f707&_ss=r i assume they are from hvac but work great on sae flare fittings, especially when tightening in fragile carb bodies. and @achris...

Is my coupler off ? looks like it and drive won't go back in ..

What year is the boat? Newer ones use less or no structural wood, but older ones can be an issue . You can check real easy by drilling 1/4" holes into stringers and transom down low. If the wood comes out dry you are fine, plug with 5200 sealant and go boating. If its a new to you boat might be...

    Q. Factory : 2022 Mercury 565 racing engine.) & ( Mercury 496 Mag H/O bravo one ) boat spd (Q).

Yeah What he said... if you legitimately lost 10 mph you have either added a bunch of weight via stuff (generator or batteries?) or waterlogged hull, or you must have very low compression on engine. I assume the initial 70 mph speed was accurate via gps?

New Engine Replacement - Engine Died and Hydro locked after 5 hrs!?

I see no reason you can't trim those down . It looks like a strengthening rib/stringer. If you remove a lot of material you may have to add something back in or double up material like sistering a floor joist or use some type of angle iron ...
